If we make the BCS joke schedules will forever be certified. If we go undefeated but don't make the BCS Bobcat Love might throw a moltov cocktail through the athletic department windows, and I might lead a separate riot targeting the BCS and the NCAA. Should be an interesting season...
...
edit: I guess I should make it clear that unless there are some insane loses that really open things up, we probably don't deserve BCS, even if we're undefeated... But I compare this to a case of a clear holding call against us. I know it is the right call but I still boo the refs.
Actually Love would probably say "I told you so." He hates the schedules we've had and I don't blame him. ...
If he did, he'd be wrong. Yes, if Ohio were to go undefeated with a very hard schedule, they would make the BCS, yet, there is no chance that this team goes undefeated against a very difficult schedule. This is a good Ohio team. On the other hand, the steps each year are incremental. I don't think even the most hard-core Koolaid drinker would tell you that Ohio is really a Top 10 team this year. If they really were that good, it would make sense to schedule a much harder schedule than this. For what Ohio has, this is a realistic schedule, and really, part of the weakness was beyond Ohio's control, because the conference gave them EMU and Ball State to play, and not NIU, Toledo, or WMU.
Speaking of Love, I'm wondering if he will admit he was wrong. It was his position that the only way to increase attendance was to bring in good foes, preferably BCS foes, and he disagreed with the position that if you win, people will come to see you. Well, there are no BCS foes on the schedule, but the team is winning, and ticket sales are up, not down.
