This school year looks to be one of the most anticipated in Ohio athletics history. The word is getting around. This status message just showed up on my newsfeed (keep in mind this person is an ALUM that spoke at commencement):

"I may be wearing green and white instead of scarlet and grey on College Football Saturdays this year Ohio University Bobcats are looking good"

At first I wanted to facepalm, but hey, progress is progress, right?

I'll drive the train if that is what it takes. Sure there will be people who will jump on for the ride and jet at first site of trouble, but there will be some who stay for a lifetime. I'll take those few over none at all. OHIO needs a big tent approach to recruiting fans. We are too unknown to be exclusive.

I will personally cut down on my beer consumption to pitch in cash for an extra wagon to fit all the new fans.

I'll take bandwagon, beer wagon, or even tail waggin' fans.  I might not even look at them with disdain if they come to the game and wear scarlet and gray..ok I went too far there.

An OHIO grad who dons red on Saturday is not a "bandwagon" fan. He's a douchebag.

In the early 90's, I would have to buy the beer and brats then still beg for my floormates to join me at Pedan. Things have changed a bit, let everyone join!

Scratch that, I will bring the beer with me on the bandwagon and share it with everyone.  I see that ending better.

+1
+2.

At the last OSU game a guy sitting near Hooligan took off his OSU jersey when the Cats got their biggest lead to show he was wearing green and white underneath to support his alma mater. He was quickly publicly humiliated for being a sheep that forgot about his school. We can build a program full of great fans without trying to convert the douchebags back. As far as I'm concerned, it's a one way street. If you loyally support a school you have no connection to other than as a fan, I have zero respect for you.

Tell that guy to put his scarlet and gray back on and continue to yell back "I O" every time someone shouts the first two letters. He can wear his Pryor jersey every time he goes to the airport so everyone in the nation can hate him too. For he is a Bucknut. Who cares where he actually went to college?

How do you greet someone wearing garb of the jr. institution in columbus?

"Oh, you root for the Bobcats, too?!"

It's time...for Ohio to be the lead school in the state.

I was told I could wear my OSU jersey to work on Saturday's.  When I asked about wearing my green and white, I was told no, and that everyone had to be uniform.

Well, looks like I'm just sticking to the old company polo, thank you very much.

Unless you work for Gordon Gee, I start floating my resume around. That's ridiculous.

Where you messed up was specifying green and white instead of "OHIO". Shoulda just confirmed, via email so it's in writing, that it was ok to wear OHIO football apparel on Saturdays. The higher ups probably wouldn't have caught it.

Well, I didn't specifically say green and white, I did say my OHIO gear.  But I'll be bringing it up again soon.

That is what the Penn State students think of those who wear O$U colors:

That video is as disgusting to me today as it was when I first saw it.  I don't care who you root for (and I dislike the Buckeyes as much as anyone) those idiots should have been arrested. I want to get a W against Penn State - but I don't want their fans assaulted. There is no place for that kind of behavior in sports at any level.
