Kent St. gets it done with their defense. They were outgained 316-267 but were +6 on turnovers.

I just returned from the akron game. It is going to take a lot more then high profile hires at coach , defensive coordinator and an assistant athletic director to turn this terrible team around. Akron might just be a lousier team then last year. 5 dropped passes (one a crucial 4th down pass in the first half)5 turnovers(two on special teams that led too two touchdowns.) a missed field goal. Defensive backs are some of the worst, you can go on and on but team is so bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. At least they still have Zippy. As for central florida they don't have the greatest db's either. Ohio would have a field day with them.

NMSU will be a tough test. Andrew Manley threw for 367 last night. No Cupcake coming to town next Saturday night.

It's hard out there for a [defensive] coach.

that performance last night was terrible from the zips, bowden and amato have a lot of work to do up there. Hard to tell just how good ucf is, they were playing the zips. Kind of reminded me of a poor mans wisconsin. Big fast offensive line with two good big tailbacks. Only throw too keep you honest but it works well. Once again hard to tell how good they are with the opponents last night. They ran a vanilla offense the whole game, almost everything was off tackle , why because they could and why give ohio state any scouting clues.Only went down field once which of course was a success. Defense might be weak though, especially the db's. Ohio would have a lot of success against them. akron would have a lot more if their receivers could hold onto the ball. the fourth down drop was unforgivable. Defensive line i thought should have been able to pressure them more then they did.Akron's quarterback was able to pass without a lot of trouble until garbage time. Bottom line if they get their running gear rolling they are tough. They won't push the osu line around like they did akron though. Miller is not a good passer and with a new offensive system ucf should hang in there with them and give a good test.  I would say from what i watched at the game last night, osu 21-10. Lets see what osu does this weekend though. One last thing about last night. The akron fans were very nice and everyone was hoping we will win tomorrow. They have made a commitment to success up there with the stadium and the bowden and amato hires. Of course hiring Bowden and Tressell just might get them on probation before long.
