We were relegated to a remote corner in the heights of the stadium, a speck of Green & White in that sea of Blue & White. But it sure looked like the players knew we were there - sure felt like we (as the 110 always does) more than made up for the size of our contingent with the "noise we brought".

Could you tell we were there on the TV broadcast?

No I can't recall espn ever showing a group of OU fans once.

Heard what sounded like the 110 a few times, mostly after turnovers.  Also, Landon Smith pointed high up into the stands after his TD, so I presume the players knew where the fans were.

Ohio fans were not shown once during the broadcast. We were blown away by that. Even after a positive big play or touchdown, ESPN failed to show the 110 or any Ohio fans at all, only reaction from various PSU players/coaches/fans.

You would think--at some point late in the contest--the director of the broadcast would see the merit in slowly changing the story over to Ohio, maybe a thrill of victory/agony of defeat kind of thing.

Never happened, even after the win was sealed. Watching on TV, you wouldn't have known there were ANY Ohio fans or band present at all.

[Correction, I now remember the cameras showing ONE Ohio fan in a sea of blue. Apparently, he was the only Ohio fan in the entire stadium.]

I only saw the single fan in the PSU section on the ESPN coverage, but some of that could've been due to where our folks were located. I heard the 110 many, many times in the background and enjoyed it. The narrative and framing was definitely all Penn State -- I expected that to be the case.

Definitely to be expected...Outside of Athens their first game back was the story.  I will never be accused of being an ESPN apologist, but they showed what the world wanted to see yesterday.  Even so I agree...You could definitely hear the 110 throughout and it was evident the players knew where the Ohio faithful were...They called pointed them out more than once during celebrations.

Yesterday was about Penn State's return to the field...OUr story is the rest of the season!

Watched the game on DVR when I got back to DC last night and you could clearly hear our fans yelling "O............." on the last kickoff of the game,

I get it; the coverage angle was PSU.  But that is garbage that our fans were never shown and we were never the story.  Here's a clue: first home opener win by an opponent in what, about 106 years, of PSU football history, Frank Solich brings the magic to downtrodden Ohio.  Here's what a coach does to redeem a program...not Mr. Surly, yes Coach Solich.

We weren't even their second story line.  That was commentary on other games.

Given the way that we've brought the bring on ESPN games over the past few years, you'd think that a minimal amount of respect would be due.

There were two shots of Ohio fans -- including one of a fan waving an Ohio flag. I heard the 110 pretty clearly throughout the broadcast.

I saw one OU fan in a sea of PSU fans when they all joined arms and sang the PSU song...

I don't think the word "Ohio" was mentioned once in the first 6 minutes of the telecast.

I never heard one thing about the injuries to the Ohio secondary. But I heard everything I ever wanted to know about the seamstress who sewed on the PSU players' names on their jersey.

I did like hearing SUaC when we scored. Crystal clear.

I thought the Ohio commercial was adequate. Not memorable, but not embarrassing like past attempts.

I liked the JoePa cutout in Franco Harris' skybox. Classy.

This really doesn't bother me.  It has bothered me in past games, but this game was different.  Even if Penn State was playing Notre Dame and not us the cameras would've been on PSU.  That gets me thinking about how this game will be remembered.  Insane that PSU's first game in the new era (in many ways) was a loss to OHIO.

They've actually lost 15 straight home openers now. 

Actually even before the sanctions, Penn State lost  in 2001 in their home opener to eventual National Champion Miami.  So I'm not quite sure where you got 106 years. Maybe to an unranked opponent?

I mis-stated.  I think that it's this:  Before yesterday, they'd never lost a season opener which was played at home.  Right?...I thought that I'd read that on this site a few times.  And if it's on 'net....

They lost their first four games in 2001 including losing their opener at home to University of Miami of Florida.

It's pretty rare to show visiting fans in crowd shots. This is a mole hill. ESPN or any other broadcaster has no responsibility to show us or any other fans.

you could clearly hear the band after every touchdown and big play especially late. Also before the last play you can see tyler turn and point to the ohio section behind him.

I was wondering more if we could be heard - we were screaming our lungs out! We knew the team could hear us as they pointed up and acknowledged, waved for us to keep it up multiple times - especially late in the game.
