The forecast is for rain and thunderstorms throughout the day...Over 50% chance.  Some are saying 80% chance.

What impact will this have on attendance and the game IF the forecast comes true?  I'm hoping that things clear out quicker than expected, hopefully by Saturday mid afternoon.

Still only calling for 40% chance here.  If we do get rain, reported attendance will be over 23,000 - actual will be under 20.  It's band day so that will help.

Rain may dampen fan turn out (pun intended), but as far as the game goes, a rainy slogfest benefits us more than NMSU. I think Coach would be happy to grind it out on the ground.

Yesterday at 2:00 pm, The Weather Channel said it would be 100% rain from 4-6 pm.  I almost cancelled our middle school golf practice, but decided to wait.  We practiced under sunny skies.  It never did rain.

Maybe Belton was the meteorologist...."It will rain 10 out of 10 times."  I'll be in Tailgreat Park around noon rain or shine.

Perhaps you could walk through the greens with a sandwich board urging students not to attend due to an extended weather forecast.  Really, what's the purpose of this thread?

You'll have to ask your boy Jeff "Todd Boucher" McKinney that one.  Looks like old Todd is now down in Mississippi as a weekend weather guy.

I say there's a 100% chance that everyone needs to put their big boy hip waders on and deal with it.

The forecast from my living room is High Def and cold beer. (Before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm 7 hours away and am STILL working on plans to attend as many as 5 games (though more likely 3), including a road game or 2)

I had a dream in my geography class it was raining at the OU game.  Except it was the Rose Bowl and we were playing Oregon.  It started pouring causing our fans to go nuts, then Travis Carrie who made a miraculous return from injury picked off the QB and returned it to put us up 28-14 late in the 3rd.  Class ended before I could figure out if we held on to win.

OK, all of you SE Ahiya-Chicken Littles...  The Cornstalk curse is a West Virginia thing - my family is from down around those parts and if you ask me having his memorial site stand on the land where the mighty Kanawha and the Ohio intersect in Point Pleasant is curse-enough.   PP should have been a boom town, not an Native American Memorial - however, if you think about it, it'd make a great spot for a casino...but I digress.

Its time for Bobcat Nation to stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Its time to dream big or stop dreaming.

The rain will pass and be gone by evening....muddy for the tailgate, but clear for the game.  24K!  Me?  I screamed myself hoarse in Happy Valley and am staying home to recover up here in the Chi.  Stand up and Cheer until you can't cheer any more!  Beat NMSU!

You PEOPLE know that I will be there rain or shine...I have sat through the WORST weather conditions to support the Cats.  The NC State game under Hurricane Earl...SBH, were you there for THAT?  I was at Kent State along with Mike Johnson a few years ago for a football game that featured every adverse weather condition known to man.  I was one of the 300 who waited until after the lightning delay.  I have also driven through countless white knucklers during basketball season.

Purpose of this thread?  I hate to see our attendance held down by nature...especially coming on the heels of the win over Penn State.  This should be a sellout but you guys know how many of the nominal fans react to a little rain.  I was just venting a little frustration.

It is true that weather is usually less dire than predicted so I hope that happens Saturday.

Sandwich board?  You think I should be clothed or will the board be enough?

At noon you should have your pick of spots although the spot that you normally set up probably won't be available.  I went over there on my way to a meeting at the OU Inn this evening and the newly seeded area is pretty damp and squishy and won't handle cars.  If they're smart, they'll rope it off otherwise it will be a rutted mess all fall.

By the way, are you taking in displaced Green and White Club members at your tailgate?

As a matter of fact, I WAS at the North Carolina State game.  And at the lightening delayed Iowa State game in the Lichtenberg era. And scores of other away games, rain or shine.

I'd rather watch good football in bad weather than bad football in good weather any day.

Must have been all of those Friday nights watching East beat the heck out of Firestone in the Rubber Bowl in rainy weather.  There is no substitute for good weather.  Just spent a week in Maine in perfect weather.  Have been up there in rain and it's not nearly as much fun.  Give me a 2:00 game on a Saturday with sun and light clouds and 70 to 75 degrees and you feel like you're in heaven.

Scalia Lab is never wrong
(not that being the Associate Director from 2008-2010 would make me biased or anything...)

I remember a game where he did that to start the second half but never to start the game.  Regardless, when a loss carries into Monday or Tuesday at work, things are a bit out of whack.  Play ball all your life as many on here have done and then have that taken away, you'll begin to view sports in a whole different way.  We all want OU to win but it's not the end of the world if we don't.  After all it's just a game to the folks in the seats.

Todd Baucher is still in Parkersburg. Trust me, I see him all the time.

Not sure about the G&W displaced folks. We have grown a lot in the past 10 years. I cannot believe we prepare food and drinks for 40-50 every game. I should start charging dues for my non-client attendees.
