Tonight's 51 points (which easily could've been much more) is historic for OHIO.  In games against FBS competition (I am not counting the 1933 games against Franklin University and Transylvania University), this was the 5th highest scoring game (against FBS competition) and only the sixth time OHIO has reached 50 points against FBS competition.  The others:

2002:

10/19—KSU 50-0

10/12—EMU 55-27

**Consecutive weeks, which came after a 72 point performance against us by BGSU.  2002 was an odd year for OHIO.

2000:

10/21—CMU 52-3

1976:

11/20—NIU 63-15

1968:

10/16—Cincinnati 60-48

Option was killing it in those 2002 games. Remember watching the game at Kent (TV games were pretty rare back then) then crushing EMU (then as now, only technically an FBS program) and being pumped when we were still in the division race heading into Game 11. Unfortunately we couldn't pull it out and lost to Marshall on a late FG miss. We sure have come a long way from clinging to faint hopes that a bad 4-6 team can somehow make the MAC title game!
