I’ve been looking at the forecast and there will be showers during the game, however wind may end up be more of a factor. Forecasting 15-20 mph with gusts up to 35 MPH out of the North. The playing field is on a N/S axis, hindering the passing game 2 of 4 quarters. NIU is pretty strong on the ground. This will be a slog.

Temps will be in the mid 50s to high 40s so it won’t be bitterly cold…but it won’t feel comfortable.

With that said…any of y’all faithful gonna be there?

My NIU grad neighbor says that they are a bad team.
Can anyone say Bobcats will "run the table"?
I agree that NIU is not very good and we SHOULD prevail.

However, in the past any time we get overconfident there is the possibility that we get out played and run into a buzzsaw on the road. Therefore, we praise our opponent in order to not give them any reason to think we disrespect them. It is an odd, yet time honored ritual that good programs employ.

That being said, I like our Cats 27-14.
I like your prediction as I think Ohio beats the spread. I'm sure the staff knows they are up for against a greater challenge than the previous few weeks. Last week was a layup against KSU and the previous week BGSU was battling injuries of key personel.

It *should* benefit OU. Bangura is probably the best runner in the league. Allison has started off and on since Obama was in office. Quinn. Ricky Hunt. We have a nice, deep stable.

We all like to throw, but I'd be happy running it 50 times and winning 24-6. Run them down and let the defense shut them down.

This is another piece of conventional wisdom I like to question much of the time. Really, depending on the severity of the conditions, it can affect the game in different ways. I think slippery conditions favor receivers and runners in space who can make planned cuts/plants forcing defenders to react. This can lead to wide open receivers where a qb can get even a wet ball there easily.

Wind? I guess it depends how much. Kurtis was chucking it in the wind at BG to the tune of 14-16 and it was windy last weekend in Athens (300 yards).

Where it gets dangerous is the underthrown deep ball if the qb doesn't compensate for the weather.

As for RBs, any fb geniuses want to chime in? if there's little traction, seems like it's probably easier to go down on first contact. Can the backs get into open spaces where they can make cuts? I expect tough sledding between the tackles for both teams. Which team manages to open up the passing game should have an advantage.

Based on what? He may not even be the best RB on the field Saturday with Antario Brown playing for NIU.

I think the ypc stat will say more about the o line rather than the back. But compared to the numbers, Sieh seems to be an all purpose RB and Brown isn’t a receiving threat.

It can also be related to the offensive scheme. Whatever the reason for it, the fact is that Ohio has 2 of the lowest 6 backs in the conference, and none of the top 13. Anyone that thinks Ohio will dominate this game because of their powerful rushing attack and great backs is likely to be disappointed. Ohio is capable of moving the ball on the ground, but it's also true that they have a lot of room for improvement. I like both Bangura and Allison, but I'd like to see both breaking off some 20 yard carries, and both averaging over 4.5 yards a carry. That would make the passing attack even more effective.

It looks like the rain will clear out of Dekalb late morning or early afternoon. Temps in the mid 50's with winds in the mid to high teens MPH at game time. I don't think the weather conditions will have as much impact on the game as thought a few days ago. If the latest forecast holds up, I don't see where OHIO will need to adapt a game plan which limits any part of our play book.

There needs to be a more creative approach to the run game. The lack of explosive plays in the run game has been a bit concerning. Seems like a lot of inside zone just to distract. Where has the GT Counter stuff and speed option gone? With that O Line they should be moving people. If I have any concern about this team right now it is the running game. If they want to hoist a trophy in December it has to show improvement.

I've seen one play this year, first half of Iowa St game, where Bangura and Allison were in the backfield together. I believe it was a counter play that resulted in a decent gain. Wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

Does Rourke becoming a threat to run/keep help our ground game? Option plays, QB keeps, broken pass plays that gain decent yardage all see to be more prevalent as Kurtis moves past his injury(s). Keeping defenses off balance regarding our run game may help our talented running backs.

..........

Based on his selection to the 1st team?

Based on winning freshman of the year?

Based on being an ncaa all-american honorable mention?

Based on his 1,000 yard performance as a freshman?

Based on being 3rd in TD, and 4th in yards?

Antario Brown is a nice player, you should definitely use your sterling credentials to vote on him this season.

Just because the offense is having a slow start to the season doesn't mean Rourke is the 5th best QB in the MAC. That doesn't mean Sam Wiglusz is not a Top 10 WR in the MAC. Sam is 30th in YPC. He is not the 30th best WR in this league. Yall are trying so hard.

Do you think that if voting were held today for All-MAC, Bangura would win? Your personal opinion that Bangura is the best RB in the league is nice, but not dispositive. As the season progresses, Bangua will need some long runs, and some 100 yard games to be in the running.

I think Bangura would start for most of the teams in the MAC but I'm not an expert on the subject. Most of us probably feel he is a good back, in part, because of his statistics from last year. What I will say is don't fall into easily accepting data when it supports your personal bias and rejecting similar data when it doesn't.

Also, I agree that the lack of big runs this year is starting to be a concern.

Doubtful any Bobcat fan feels he is not a "good back". I'm just saying he has not been the best in the MAC this season. Or last year.
