BG was down to their 3rd sting QB in the Michigan game. Their starter is hurt and their backup got hurt. It appears both might not be able to go this week.
Now that CJ is out for the year, if Kurtis gets hurt we'll be down to our third string QB. Stay healthy, Kurtis. Hope Navarro gets plenty of reps with the first squad this week, and especially next week during the bye week practices.

And, maybe after we get that 30-point lead on Saturday! ;-)

Made the trip down to Athens last week with a college buddy. Had such a good time that I'm taking my wife to the Bowling Green game and making it a mini date weekend.

This Bobcats team is the real deal. We already know their defense is legitimate. Once the offense gets clicking which I believe is only a matter of time with MAC play getting underway, this really should be 9-10 win squad. Let's start the conference schedule with a win over the Falcons.

Getting a win here going into the bye week will be huge from a momentum standpoint in my opinion.

It can be easy to have a letdown after a big win (much like last year when Marshall beat Notre Dame then went on to lose at BG) so here's hoping the Cats are locked in and focused (which I think they are).

If BG is really down to their QB3 I got to think they will want to get the ground game going, which plays right into the strength of the D. They gave Michigan a tough game for a while so it won't be easy.

Getting Sieh going is primary in my opinion on offense. I never would have thought that through our first four games, Sieh would have more tackles (1) than touchdowns (0). Heck, who could have predicted that Parker Navarro and CJ Harris would have the same number of passing touchdowns as Kurtis Rourke? Or that through four games Jacoby Jones is touchdown-less? I know injuries have plagued us but man, this is a rough start on offense when that was supposed to be our strength. Instead we need our D to stay strong. Houston and Thompson are animals!

Just a complete lack of explosive plays, especially in the run game. Both SB and OA have picked up some hard fought yards between the tackles, but no one is getting past the 2nd level and really breaking loose.

What's our injury situation?

Addonis Williams still out? Jeremiah Wood and Miles Cross weren't dressed for ISU. We know about Harris. I think Alec Burton got cleared to return from a preseason injury but I don't believe he has participated yet.

If we're up by 3 TDs in the second half at BG I wouldn't be surprised to see him in for a series or two.

During the Monday radio show, Albin said Addonis Williams (& I think he also said Miles Cross) practiced on Monday. He said would likely be limited, but good they practiced on Monday.

Those matte green helmets are sharp, great look. Adidas is such an upgrade from Russell.

When did football players stop wearing knee pads? It appears that some are now wearing shorts. Not unlike the 1976 ChiSox under Bill Veeck.

Ten bonus points for a Bill Veeck mention.

Great Netflix documentary on the Veeck family (primarily Mike) called the Saints of Second Chances. Get the kleenexes out, though.

We are favored by 13 point on the road and BG's 1st and 2nd string QBs are out.

The performance against Michigan is deceptive. With some luck a medicore MAC program can hold a P5 at bay for a while. Yet a top MAC contender could very well do no better. Thus BG's performance last week against Michigan isn't indicative of anything.

If they lost a 37-40 shootout with Michigan I would say look out but not when they only score 6 points.

Looks to me the college and NFL are wearing basically no pads at all. I wonder if this is the players preference and uncomfortable. Downside ? There has to be one.

There's a great scene in the movie Invincible where Mark Wahlberg who plays Vince Papale decides to switch his shoulder pads so he can run faster. Knee pads slow you down big time.

Bill Veeck is quite an interesting dude - did a promotion back in the day where he gave out free mirrors to the outfield spectators to deflect sun into the opposing batter's eyes. Also was on the field barking at rioting kids during Disco Demolition Night... Fun times.

Bazalak and Orth are listed as the QBs for Saturday,, with either being the starter. In two games, Bazalak is 29 of 49 passing, for 390 yds, 3 TDs and 3 INTs. He didn't play last week vs Mich. In three games, Orth is 15 of 23 for 206 yds, 1 TD and 2 INTs. Their other QB, Timosiek, isn't on the depth chart. In his only appearance, last week vs Mich, he was 6 of 10 for 33 yds, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. None of them appears to be very formidable.

Rushing, BG is averaging just under 140 ypg. They have three tailbacks on the depth chart this week: Stewart averages 36 ypg., Keith 30 ypg and Patterson 21 ypg. They total three rushing TDs on the season. As a trio, they're averaging 15 carries a game, so none of them has been a workhorse. Our D should be able to handle these guys.

Now, if we can get our offense in gear....

Off Topic, there is a documentary out on Bill's son Mike (who was the promotion manager for Disco Demolition) called "The Saint of Second Chances" - Highly Recommend, particularly if you're a fan of his dad.
