I am in section 103 , row 12

Stop by the HerdNation tailgate for a beer before the game. Corner of 21st street and 2nd avenue, we'll have a banner up on one of the RVs parked on the lot.

This game is severely under-marketed on OHIO's campus. They should pimp the road tickets to this game like they're trying to fill Peden (maybe offer incentives like a free T-shirt for every ticket, pickup only). There should absolutely be a Ozone bus trip to this Marshall game. But there is not. There should be a bus trip to every road game at Marshall for as long as the rivalry is maintained. Bringing Athens to Huntington will only enhance the experience.

Like I said in the other thread:

Is there anything being done to get students down to Huntington? I know the OZone isn't taking buses, but are there any carpool efforts?

I bet many students don't realize how close Huntington is to Athens. With the 6:30 kickoff you could easily watch a noon game, leave Athens in the afternoon, stay for the whole game and still make it back in time to celebrate the win on Court Street for a few hours.

It's easily the closest roadtrip we have this season. Someone needs to make that clear to the students.

I really would love to see a big turnout at the game:  I have an event on facebook with a few friends at OU Chillicothe and we're meeting in Athens for the game.  However, I want to open it to a lot of students and other fans for a "caravan" to go from Athens to Huntington.  Who would I talk to for this?

Probably the OZone President, but I don't know who's running it this year. Maybe someone in the marketing department?

Make sure that you sit with BOBCAT Fans.  Have two tickets available in Section 103.  Will sell them below Marshall's cost.  Can meet fans at game.  GO BOBCATS!!!

I'll be there +1 or more. My friend got tickets through his cousin who used to work in the OU Athletic Department. We're heading there and gonna try to tailgate before the game. Then heading back to OU to hopefully celebrate an OU win on Court Street afterwards.

I know this thread is to discuss those making the trek to Huntington for gameday.

I thought it may be a good place to throw this out too.

There's going to be an OHIO Alumni Happy Hour in downtown Charleston, WV from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday. I'll be there with my wife -- talked to another local Bobcat grad and he may be in +1 too.

I've lived in the area a couple years and honestly only met maybe a couple other local Bobcat grads, so looking forward to this first of its kind event locally.

I think it's good to get a little foothold here. We're really only 90 minutes or so from Athens.

Here's the information I received via email.

"Hello Bobcats!

If you're gonna be in Charleston, why not just make the drive to the stadium?

And if you're gonna say you don't want any trouble, Charleston has a worse crime rate than Huntington by far.

Read closer. It's Thursday and it's intended for those who live in the area, not driving from Athens or elsewhere. It's a local alumni gathering.

I do plan to be at the game as well.

Ahh my bad... threw me off because you said this...

But glad to hear you're gonna make it, have a good trip down!

Awesome, hopefully this helps get people committed.  I think there is a lot of interest but a lack of know how about how students can make the trip.

If you're coming from Athens, I suggest taking WV State Route 2 -- catch it in Gallipolis. Look for the signs for 35 south toward Charleston, go over the bridge into WV toward Pt. Pleasant, then immeditaley catch 2 toward Huntington.

It's two lane, but typically travels quicker than Ohio 7.

This way will take you right past the famed Hillbilly Hotdogs too, the original that is. There's another in downtown Huntington. The original is in an area called Lesage. It's a place you have to know where it is or you'll fly right by. Coming from Athens, it'll be on your left-hand side. Look for the school bus serving hot dogs.

Plan to re-post this in the official travel thread too for anyone coming from Athens.

Optimist:  I changed the heading paragraphs to a more formal reading since it's going to people other than the ones that are on my friends list that actually go.  Also posted it on the Ozone forum.

Adelphia is a nice sports bar. There is some talent on the wait staff and behind the bar, they have good wings too. Another plus, it is located right beside Pies and Pints which is an excellent restaurant.

The outskirts of Huntington is what kills us... the main downtown is way less of a threat for any sort of violent activity.

Now the downtown area of Charleston is a different story... I feel way less safe there.

So (for any of you who are up at this hour) how do I get the section I want if I have to do this online?  Their site isn't like ours where you can request the exact seat that you want.  It's more random and keeps placing me right smack dab in the middle of the wrong green and white crowd on opposite ends of the stadium....

Probably best just to call 1-800-THE-HERD tomorrow. The web system is set up for best available.

Visitor's sections are 101 and 103.

You'll probably get front row because it's been reported and verified by trusted sources only 113 people bought tickets. Most probably won't show. Do people even know we have a team?
