Some random thoughts on the game, seen via video stream with Ohio audio over top:

1. Eyepatch.

2. We took their best punch, actually their first three or four punches, and fought back every time. The grit our defense showed on those last two drives. I cannot WAIT to see the highlight replay of this.

3. The better team won.

4. I think the people who brought us the online stream of the game worked for Wang Chung making videos before joining The Herd. I'm happy we won, but I'm even more happy I haven't had a seizure yet.

5. This one's got to sting. Beating them as badly as we did last year, that seems way easier to get over than getting your hearts ripped out like that at home. That's why you don't want to talk a lot of junk before the game. Because you feel like you do now afterward.

6. I'm going to sleep like a baby knowing the bell is back in Ohio.

7. The stream stunk, but here was my favorite part: The Fan Cam of Marshall fans leaving:

8. Grit. Back to work, get better, and get after it this week.

Honestly the stream was rock-solid for me once they got the aspect ratio problems fixed early on. There was terrible camerawork but I didn't have any of the jitter or whatever other people reported.

If I had to go with a play or two:

- Fourth down TD pass from TT.
- Carpenter strip
- Final INT to seal it

The Nathan Carpenter play near the end would be WONDERFUL if you have the time!

On our last td drive on consecutive third downs from about our 20 and our 35, TT ran for a first down and threw across his body for another.

And that is why is esteemed.  Just big, big, bigtime plays.

If I say what I'm thinking, then you'll probably think my account has been hijacked by someone from Marshall, but ... I'm going to say it anyway: We were very fortunate to come out of that game with a "W."

I liked Coach Solich's comment: "...(We) were able to make enough plays to keep us in this game and then to win it."

I'm sure Marshall's fans feel slighted by the "catch/no-catch" at the 11-yard-line just before Nate Carpenter picked a receiver clean and returned the fumble 48-yards to help set up the deciding FG after Beau Blankenship was ruled down with a football bouncing away and into a Herd player's hands. I don't know if the officials got those calls right; we were ... fortunate.

Cato is "a load" and Marshall is a very good football team that, I think, did not get any "breaks." We did not have the tools to stop Cato. But we got the "W," and Frank's typically understated way of summing it up is right on the money.

The Herd feed was as good as some I've paid for in past years. In fact, better than some. And I thought the accompanying audio commentary was OK. I'd rather have had OUr audio, but there was too much delay.

Only other thing I'll say about that game is that Tyler Tettleton is an amazing quarterback. The things he did on the drive to tie the game at 24 were frankly All-American quality. I know Ohio wasn't his heart's desire as a kid at Norman North, but sometimes the prettiest girl doesn't want to go out with you. So he got be a Bobcat. Yeah! Stand Up And Cheer!

that's what good teams do, find ways to win games when they aren't playing their best, especially on the road. No team is going to play 14 perfect games, but if you can pull out wins you aren't at your best, you are a good team. Also gives the coaches plenty of film to examine and hopefully correct the problems.

The Ohio-Marshall took a step up last night.  Cato-Tettleton II next year is already circled on my calender.

I don't disagree that we caught some breaks that could have gone the other way, but so did Marshall. Blankenship's fumble when he was down, the Marshall punt return fumble that was reversed, some pass interference non-cals........they went both ways, and on the whole I thought is was pretty fairly officiated.

One team made plays, and the other didn't.

The majority of Marshall's skill players are true sophomores, redshirt sophomores and redshirt freshman.  So this series should be entertaining for the foreseeable future.
