According to Sagarin computer rankings.

29th OHIO@ ; 78.50 pts.
101st New Mexico State@ 62.49 pts
105th Marshall@ 61.64 pts

Based on those numbers, Ohio should be favored by about 13 instead of 6.5.

I don't buy into this computer garbage at all. Marshall is most def. better than New Mexico St. and you best believe we will have our hands full tomorrow night.

The Sagarins aren't really reliable until about the midpoint of the season.

No way is NMSU better than Marshall.

I don't think you can put a value on the rivalry factor.   I firmly believe this game will be the most difficult for the Bobcats so far...

I can't wait to see Marshall's stadium.  Does anyone know where the memorial is located.  I need directions from the stadium.

I am agreeing with you on everything Jeff! No way New Mexico State is as good as Marshall. I do think that New Mexico State was a perfect opponent to play just prior to Marshall. They pushed Ohio's pass defense which will be severely tested against Marshall.

Can't wait until tomorrow!

If you mean the fountain, it's on their green, behind the student center, on the other end of campus. About 4 blocks (stadium is on 20th Street; fountain is approximately 16th Street).

besides the memorial on campus don't forget the graveside memorial also. I don't know the directions to it but it is a graveyard overlooking Huntington.

As others have mentioned, Sagarin ratings have pre-season bias built in at the beginning of the season and that isn't eliminated until the teams are, in his words, "well-connected."  Only then do I put real stock in them.

The Memorial is actually on 20th street, as you come down 5th avenue, when you get to the stadium, turn right.  Go under the underpass and proceed up past 11th avenue, pass 11th, through the light and vere to the left up the hill, the cemetary is on the right, drive until you see the entrance, a few hundred yards.  When you get into the cemetary, drive, and constantly vere to the right until you reach the memorial.

I think the reason NMSU is ranked higher is because they crushed Sacramento State, which went on to beat Colorado last week.

Given that Sagarin claims not to be accurate for the first few weeks, I wouldn't use it for comparisons at this point. An indicator that you can use is the point spread. Ohio was favored by 21 against NMSU, and is favored by 6 or so against Marshall, at Marshall. That means that Ohio would probably be favored by 12 or so if the game were in Athens. Thus, the gambler consensus seems to be that Marshall is about 9 points better than NMSU.

I don't know why everyone is so quick to discount this statement.  NMSU beat Sacramento State who went ahead and beat Colorado.  Then they lost to OHIO.  Marshall got beat by WVU quite handily and then beat Western Carolina, who will likely lose handily to Wofford today.  I'd say there is little to show thus far that Marshall is superior to NMSU.

Little to show Marshall is better?? ... Start with C A T O he's shredding our secondary with 300 yards and still in 3rd quarter. And he's a sophmore ...

And Colorado is pathetic. Lost tonight 69 - 14 to Fresno State.  Down 55 - 7 at halftime.
