I'll start us out.

The Herd - 44
The Cats -20

I know that Marshall is greatly outmatched and they have zero Division 1 players, but this is Marshall's Super Bowl and I think they will pull this out.

I believe that this is the first time a fan of the opposing team has started this type of thread.  It's funny that no Ohio fan has done it this week.  That said, I predict:

Ohio 48
Marshall 18

This is a trap game.  We gain nothing with a win.  We lose a lot with a loss.  Marshall's jacked up for their Super Bowl. Marshall players are ticked that they weren't offered a scholarship to play at OHIO.  MU is giving away free tickets to fans with every carton of  cigarettes to pack the stadium.  It'll be a beer-infused emotional high...then kickoff happens.

HOLY COW!  (Pun intended)  A fan of a school that considers their football to be superior saying that OHIO, a lowly MAC team for crying out loud, is THEIR super bowl.  I distinctly remember us hearing that stuff from Marshall fans last year.  (Not saying that it's you in general, just a general observation I made.)

I had a prediction on the official game thread-

41-27 Cats.*

*May be askewed by Donte Foster being questionable, but still think Ohio will win regardless.

He was mocking some of our posters who said that Marshall was considering this their super bowl.  He's being sarcastic.  When it comes to sarcasm we should be able to take it as well as dish it.

Again, when it gets to kickoff we'll be doing most of the dishing and they'll be doing most of the taking.

I don't think this game is a question of us scoring....all the Marshall fans I've talked to agree that they don't have much of a chance of stopping our offense. Slowing, maybe. But not stopping.

So the question is whether we can respond to their offense. How does our D compare to WVU's D? With limited data points, it's hard to say. But I think the comparison iscloser to our favor than conventional wisdom would suggest. WVU's D is not great, and they held Marshall to 20 points until Marshall scored two late touchdowns against the subs. And Dana Holgorsen says he expects a tougher game from James Madison than they got from Marshall.

That leads me to believe that a good-but-not-great defense (especially a smart, experienced, well-coached defense) can limit Marshall's offensive effectiveness. Are we going to shut them down completely? No. But so long as our O is playing up to its ability, we don't have to shut them down. We just have to outscore them.

I expect more of the same - we start out a bit slow, few hiccups, then wear them down on both sides of the ball.

OHIO - 44
MARSHALL - 31

Disagree, not with the potential score which is a guess but with this being a "trap game".  That is an overused term.  The only teams that have trap games are teams that have won something and get lazy and look ahead.  Ohio hasn't won anything, has never won in this stadium and is playing the number one ranked offense in the country.  If the players aren't up for the one game at a time theme and EYEPATCH that their coaches have preached, well than..........

OHIO wants to be like WVU and matches the offensive production but allows Marshall to get an additional score!

I agree with your disagreement....I was trying to add more sarcasm to an already sarcastic thread.  Trap game is very overused.

I see a shoot-out,

I see tons of points,

I see balls flying everywhere,

I see momentum shifts,

I see comebacks,

I see big plays on offense,

I see bigger plays on defense,

I see overtime,

I     see       Matt     Weller,

I see us winning 48 - 45.

Way to go, Matt!
