They are nice looking uniforms, with a nice video to introduce them. You can see it here, and see the benchmark that every new uniform intro is to be compared with. "And with every new uniform, the odds increase that we'll see another scene like this (fingers crossed):"...

My original post here was poorly worded.

I picture Solich being a very mean individual.  I'm sure he isn't, but he comes across as being very stern.

I don't think "stern" or "mean" fit at all. The adjectives I have always heard are "focused", and "intense", though he seems to be mellowing a bit these days, and actually smiles now and again.

RE: Solich...it's his eighth year, and I still have no idea what his real locker room/practice/sideline demeanor is. I know what Marvin Lewis is like. I know what Mike Leach is like. I have no idea what Solich is like.

How did I just now realize that they had the Man in Black singing during the reveal video.

I am sure this is a more accurate description.

When I met Coach Solich, he was very friendly and smiled easily.

I'm certain you can't be an effective recruiter if you're a gloomy Gus.

I haven't come within a hundred yards of Coach but I know what he's like.  Don't you?  Don't you see it when Chris Garrett sneaks up for the Gatorade dump or gives coach a big hug.  Tons of stuff like that from watching video of the games.  Coach seems like a genuine, nice guy...a teacher who enjoys and takes pride in his students.

Exactly, Monroe. You can tell the players like and respect him. I haven't ever seen him scowl, or anything. My only comment was that he was focused, and that's a good thing.

Riley Dunlop kills me every time I watch this video. Just the overall genuine excitement for the jersey gives me chills.

I guess I worded that terribly.  Not mean, more the most composed individual ever.  All the players I talk to love the guy.

+1, GC105!

Is it just me, or would a new jersey NOT be greeted with such over-the-top joy, elation, in some locker rooms? I'm not going to drop any names, because I don't actually know that some so-called elite programs create, well ... elitism -- where there is such a sense of entitlement that a special jersey wouldn't be something very special. Is it just my imagination that there are places of such snobbery?

Not sure how this was greeted in the locker room of the Florida HS team that wears it:

But Adelson doesn't really care for it.

As to Coach Solich, I have talked to him at a caravan.  I found him to be very personable and direct, you know, frank...

A few years ago, my wife was on a business trip and crossed paths with the Bobcats at an airport somewhere.  Frank was with the team.  My wife said when she recognized Frank, she went over and struck up a conversation.  She told me what a pleasant experience it was to talk to him, albeit just for a brief moment.  After she got home and related the experience to me, I sent an e-mail to Coach Solich to thank him for taking the time to talk with my wife.  I received a very nice response from him as well.

Watch the 'Marshall Closer Look' video/thread.  You'll see that Coach has a lot of excitable, enjoying little kid in him.

And that Closer Look video is the best ever by the OHIO BROADCAST team--it uses longer than usual clips of plays and other activity, and forms a great narrative with its splendidly intertwined video and audio.
