Ohio's team defense had been really good the first 4 games, but giving up 34 to a bad UMass team scares me.  Before we get a lot of "UMass is really talented" replies, remember they scored 6 total points vs UConn and Indiana.  I saw the first four games live and the defensive pressure was there.  I have to believe the Tremayne Scott injury is a big problem.  Without a big push from the front four, the QB will be able to dink and dunk all over the field.  If Ohio can hold Marshall to 24 points, they should be able to stop every other QB they see.

Ohio looked great on defense the first four games.  Buffalo makes every defense look good, so hopefully the defense pushes the Reset button and gets back to their earlier performance levels.

Something that I have noticed over the past few years is how much our DBs struggle against big WRs. Sanu lit us up last year, the year before that it was the guy from Lou-La (can't remember his name right now). We had trouble this year with Robinson from Penn State.

Walker from UMass is listed by CBS at 6-3, 206, and Russ and Rob were raving about how he has the prototypical NFL build. He finished Saturay with 11 receptions for 162 yards and a TD. Same old story it seems.

I don't know what we do to fix that problem, since you have to play with the roster you have....we can't just go out and get bigger corners for this season. So long as we outscore the opposition, fine. Limit big plays, and give your defenders an opportunity to make a big play (Woseley @ Marshall). I buy into that approach. But we have to make plays, and we didn't really do that against UMass.

Also, Buffalo does make me a teenie bit nervous this week, since their top WR (Neutz) is 6-4, 209.

I saw Akron play Saturday and have to say that their offense will score 50 on us if we don't make significant progress in the next two weeks.  Their defense is horrendous, but I'm not confident we can score points in bunches the way Miami did to stay in the game.  Gotta hit their QB, which Miami did not do.

Does anyone know if there is a thread going that has our key defensive players who are injured and his timeline for getting healthy?

If there isn't one can someone list them here? I know Scott is a big one and there is a bevy of DBs......
