One of the greatest performances by a Bobcat ever today. 40 some caries 269 yards. He came up big. Without Blankenship today we wouldn't have had a happy ending. He had a Kalvin McCrae type effort today where we learned on the big back and he delivered for us. Teams will really have to respect the inside run against us.  The play action will be there all season long as teams have to respect the running attack.

Something about our play calling was not great today.  Generally--offense and defense--it seemed through at least the first half as though we wanted to win without doing or revealing too much extra.

Pressure from the front four is the way to relieve the stress on the db's.  But I'm not sure we'll get that.

There don't seem to be many teams that can consistently get running yardage between the tackles.  We do.

Yesterday, you saw Ohio minus the option game.  Sure, the 'Cats ran option plays, but I can only recall two times where Tettleton actually kept the ball.  I think a healthy T2 would have made for a much different game.  Lets hope he will be close to 100% against the beefs.

To get back to the original topic, here's some perspective: Donte Harden had a super year last season with 986 yards.  Beau might pass that against either Buffalo or Akron and still have four or five games left in the regular season, plus one or two post-season games.  And he's less than 500 yards shy of Kalvin's record for a junior (1257) (I think Beau qualifies as a junior) and more than halfway to Kalvin's season record (1434), with more than half a season to go.

How about despite the block (glass half full).  Weller's not only the top kicker, but he's also 7th in the nation in scoring, this despite the problems on special teams.  The MAC has the top two kickers in the country, and they meet in Nov.

Found it interesting that Cato from the Thundering Turd has 1920 yards passing, 192 more yards than Geno Smith from WV. I think we are lucky to have escaped  that Marshall game with the W. Gives me more respect for our D, sticking with the game even through a depleted secondary.

They were down 42-14 in the second quarter, then lost 51-41.  Our depleted secondary holding them to 24 points is astounding.  (This not considering their coach had no guts to go for it on 4th and 1 twice)

Of course, Cato has thrown the ball 99 times more than Smith and completed only 46 more, with 5 INTs to Smith's none and five fewer TDs.  Smith also has rushed for 98 yds on 21 carries while Cato has 31 yds on 22 carries.  Interestingly, T2 has more yds per completion than either Cato or Smith and more per attempt than Cato.  We beat Marshall because Ohio is better disciplined -- we didn't beat ourselves with penalties and turnovers -- and being opportunistic on defense, both of which are a reflection of the coaching staff.
