Exactly. People always draw the line just above their wealth and lifestyle for what is acceptable.
People do it just as much below their wealth line too. "how dare that person use food stamps to buy name brand cereal!!??"
I see the point, except in one scenario the spending is funded by the individual and the other is funded by the taxpayer. Individuals can and should question the fiscal responsibility of any funds secured by means of taxation.

But in this scenario at A&M if the above poster was correct, the school will pay the buyout minus this years. So in effect the tax payers are paying off this loan in one form or another.
