This is on players today not the coaches. They didn't show up. Were sleep the entire game. They had their heads up their asses all day long. That pathetic offensive line dumb penalties. Terrible decision making and throws by Roark. He played like crap today. Defense was terrible. Gave big plays. silly penalties. Couldn't get third down stops. We laid an egg like we do every October. No excuse to lose to such a weak offensive team. We are seven games. Roark has no excuses about rust. He has to play better. Our wide receivers made zero effort to tackle after the interceptions. They quit on the play and cost us the game giving up a big return. This an embarrassing loss today. They need better effort if they want to win a championship. That was terrible all around today.

Hard to argue to much with this analysis. However, I would've like to see them try to put NIU away in the first half. It seemed like they were more content to run clock and didn't make much of an effort in the red zone during during the two FG drives. If they are up 21-7 at intermission they are in a different place in the second half. I think the coaches were too confident that defense could hold them the rest of the game.

Was it my imagination or did Rourke have on a much larger knee brace late in the game on that right knee? Now that the Fiami game just became a MUST WIN game...should he maybe sit this next game?

They're all must win games. Margin of error is gone. We're tied with bg and Buffalo right now. It's there a reason anyone thinks wmu is going to be easy?

You should be ashamed about going to "Hooters" to begin with, but okay.

BG is 1-2.

In any case, "Momma said there'll be days like this..."

[QUOTE=Deciduous Forest Cat] there a reason anyone thinks wmu is going to be easy?

It depends on what fire you think is burning in the hearts of the Bobcats. I think they are pissed, and they are going to take it out on WMU.

WMU has given up 48, 41, 49, 41, 34 in five of their games. Ohio should have enough to win this game with or without Rourke. One of WMU's wins was over St. Francis of Pennsylvania - not sure if that is D-3 or NAIA or what.

They are FCS, and play in the Northeast Conference, the same conference with Long Island University. Last year they were 9-3, with one loss being an overtime loss to Akron, and another being in the FCS playoffs to Delaware. They are favored to win the Northeast Conference again this year.

That's the hope of course. We have to play better than this week. But are we even better than wmu? I think. A little. Going to be interesting. We don't have the offense to "take it out" on anyone unless they hand us the ball a bunch. Or it's Kent.

Hard to argue to much with this analysis.

I treat the opinions of others with respect. I do feel bad about using the wrong form of "too" in the sentence. I know the difference---it was a typo.

One of the wonderful things about BA is that you can go back an edit your posts when you look back at one and realize that you made an embarrassing typo. There is no time limit at which a post becomes permanent. Kudos to Ryan for such a well designed forum that is easy to use. It has stood the test of time well.

The one thing you can't do, however, is to change the post in someone else's quote of it, so I fixed it for you in quoting it. ;)

Let's hope the 2nd half at NIU is looked back on as an aberration. We handled them decently well in the 1st half, led 13-7 at halftime. I thought NIU would score 21-27 points so I said we needed 4 TDs to win. NIU held up their end of the bargain, Ohio did not.

The way you bounce back is to smack around WMU to be full speed ahead for a massive Battle of the Bricks showdown!

I feel like we didn't handle the win very well at all and it makes me hope that we get a calmer day at Buffalo.

I was left wondering the degree to which the wind factored into some of Rourke's interceptions. From the camera angles I saw it was hard to tell, but at least one of them looked like just bad judgement and/or a bad throw on his part.

That's the only reason I have at this point.

At that point, NIU was dropping 57 people, because we had no choice but to pass.

In the first half, they went conservative. Didn't even attempt a deep throw. NIU started stacking the box. They didn't adjust, because they didn't care because the clock was running. They were winning. Just bleed the clock. NIU scores. OU didn't adjust, just continued to run, then ran out the clock on themselves.

They only threw the ball over 10 yards when they had to, and by that time my 4 year old niece knew it was coming.

I'm surprised the officials didn't notice and flag them for too many men
on the field. :-)

I was there and I remember the first one sailing on him. It was just a bad throw/desperation. He had the wind at his back, so maybe that was a factor.

The second pick seemed to be a miscommunication between the WR and Rourke.

The last one was a fine throw and Cross made the catch but the NIU DB ripped it away.

Thanks for the first-hand report. That does help put it in perspective. So, only one was really completely on Rourke.

And, rpbobcat is right, even MAC officials out to have noticed 57 men on the field on defense! ;-)
