Speaking of thread drift . . . can't someone at least post more idle speculation about Coach Smith!
He just interviewed for the Michigan job.

Fansided or some other click-bait site said so. It has to be true.
Thank you for your fine effort to bring this thread back to the original topic! Short of any actual news rumors on the internet are all we have.

Back in the day, Tom Price would have written five stories about Brian Smith already using anonymous sources who spoke to him confidentially with the understanding that their names would not be used. The OU Post's reporters are not nearly as enterprising as they once were.

[You've got to be old to even remember the name Tom Price, a reporter at one time for the Dayton Daily News, who wrote a lot of stories the university didn't want published not only as a student working for The Post, but also from Dayton as an alumnus.]

Smith officially relieved of his duties.

“The termination follows an administrative review of allegations that Smith violated the terms of his employment agreement by engaging in serious professional misconduct and participating in activities that reflect unfavorably on the University.”

Just released by the University a few minutes ago

Keep Hauser as HC and hire an offensive coordinator and maybe a defensive coordinator.

Now we await to see if our recruits remain committed. Also, have to see if it might affect others on the team, although that would probably be more difficult to establish an absolute direct correlation.

From a very reliable inside source, Smith has coached his last game at Ohio.
You posted this in 2022.

It's a done deal...Boals is heading to Butler.
I'm guessing your very reliable inside source is actually a very unreliable inside source.
How do you like your crow served?

Fact is, I have a very well-connected source but I don't share information often because not everything comes to fruition but a lot of it does. Should something happen and "the truth" reverses course, douche bags like you want to immediately discredit perhaps out of jealously or just wanting to maintain that cool guy keyboard warrior ego. I could tell you the same source shared that Boals had the Butler job including the terms of a contract in place (nothing officially in writing yet) until his mentor decided at the last minute he wanted to return to coaching and placed a call vying for the opportunity but I won't because it can't be true.

You have a handful of posts on this board. One claiming that Boals leaving for Butler is a "done deal" and one saying that Smith coached his last game at Ohio. The certainty of the first post gives you low credibility. As for the Smith statement, it was the most likely outcome after his suspension. You provided no information indicating context or detail that was not known by anyone else.

In comparison, the poster who had the info months ago is credible. Nobody had any information prior and it played out exactly as planned.

Sorry, "Mr. Done Deal," you aren't any more credible as a source now than before you made that post. Maybe if you provide details or you are accurate more than 50% of the time, you will gain credibility.

I'm also not saying you are lying. I'm just saying you have not established any credibility.

You're hearing it here first: we will hire a new head football coach.

Absolutely agree. Keep Hauser, hire the staff he needs.
Offense was great under Albin/Smith, defense was great under Nowinsky/Hauser. Keep those trains rolling! I don’t want to be Akron!
