from sbnation.com:
"
With the Big Ten out of sight, out of mind, Boise State only needs to be in the top 16 of the final standings to earn an automatic BCS bowl berth. And after Louisiana Tech's heartbreaking 59-57 loss to Texas A&M, the Broncos' only non-AQ competition has been removed."
I just don't get it. Do people not know we are 7-0? Are we that much worse than LA Tech? No respect at all and I don't know why. Sure we haven't obliterated OUr competition but doesn't having that 7-0 mark next to OUr name mean anything?

What they meant was that LA Tech was the only school that could have taken Boise's spot. We can't take it from them; we can only hope they lose.

If both us and Boise finish higher than the highest big ten team do we BOTH automatically make a BCS game?

No, only one non-AQ is guaranteed a spot. Whether they get it by being in the top 12 or by top 16 but ahead of a bcs conference champion.

I did not believe we had any chance of leapfrogging Boise. I am starting to think we might if Toledo, NIU or Kent can win a lot of games. The key (as it has always been) is staying undefeated.

The last few weeks of the season are always the key. It's the "what've you done lately" syndrome. We might face three bowl-eligible teams in the last three weeks of the season -- BGSUcks, BSU and Kent -- plus a bowl-eligible team in the MACC, if we get there. These would be "quality" wins on national TV. Throw in Penn St and the Cats could be 13-0 with wins against at least five solid opponents. That might be enough.

While Boise has the name recognition they suffer from Michigan State just bottoming out.
That loss looks worse and worse each week, especially if Michigan blows their doors off this coming Saturday.
I honestly think Ohio will have no problem jumping Boise as we get deeper in to the schedule but Ohio obviously has to stay undefeated.
The one thing everyone is forgetting is that Ohio will get a huge bump via the 13th game, especially if NIU or Toledo can showing up with double digit wins.
At 13-0, I just don't see a scenario where Boise (who has an equally weak schedule) could overcome Ohio having 2 more wins.
It's all moot if they lose but if the Bobcats win, I'm not really worried about everything taking care of itself.
