I like the personalized reasons why NIU fans specifically should root for Ohio, or Toledo fans, or Bowling Green fans...

I agree that MAC fans should cheer for the betterment of the conference.  I don't get the lack of respect for conference peers.  Completely classless the outright tearing apart another MAC team's success or hoping for their failure.  It seems more common now.  I had Akron fans chanting "One and done" at us in the parking garage after the MAC b-ball championship game.  MAC "Fans" ripping Ohio's football schedule and inability to beat the living tar out of their conference peers.

You're ultimately disrespecting your own team for being affiliated in the same conference.  Don't you want to have a chance at beating a ranked MAC opponent?  Wouldn't that bring some credibility to your football/basketball program?  Doesn't that create more excitement on game day to be hosting a top-25 team?

However, the author is wrong on expecting fans to cheer for Ohio at the expense of their own teams.  Ridiculous to tell NIU, Toledo or Kent fans they should cheer for us to beat their own teams for the benefit of the conference.   Although written by a WMU fan, it just generates more disrespect/hate for Ohio as illustrated by the comments.

Well said. The fact is the MAC is much improved and although the records of UMass, Buffalo and Akron might not show it those teams are improved and not as bad as their records. MAC is a very tough conference. Going unbeaten in this conference would be a huge feat. Ohio was 4-0 non-conference and like basketball its hard to be at the top of your game every week. Injuries in football are a huge factor. Teams learn that it takes a lot of character in the locker room to overcome adversity on the field.  Ohio is finding out that its not a few elite players every week but an entire team that is getting us thru each week. This team has one goal and that is winning the MAC. Offense, defense, special teams  they all got each others back. They know the injuries we have had, but this team is pulling together to pick up the slack some way some how they find a way to get it done. This is a team of destiny. They have a chance to be among the best ever at Ohio and perhaps the MAC.
