Regardless of your political affiliation, I thought it was neat that the President gave Ohio football props today.  You can listen with the link below.  It's in the On Demand section.

I agree, my wife was in the front row and was really impressed by the respect the President showed for the University. The President of the United States came to Athens.......Go OHIO!!!

Let's just calm down a bit. When we get Honey Boo Boo for commencement, THEN we'll know we've hit the big time!

I posted it in the General Discussion forum too, but might as well report it here too: Arkley pointed out that Saturday's football game out gained the Leader of the Free World by approximately 12,000 people. My how times have changed in Athens!

Why did he say "we've got a playoff system"..."one more promise kept"? I'm confused.

It was mostly a joke. When asked about it (I think on ESPN) some time ago, he advocated strongly for a playoff. Obviously he does not have or want power over the NCAA.

I'm going entirely off of memory here:  He wasn't joking.  I think that when Boise (?) was first on fire, there was talk that they wouldn't make a BCS bowl because not an AQ.  Obama and/or Congress rumbled and a significant part of the public wasn't happy at the thought of a strong Boise being left out.  NCAA modified it's rules (the 'if rated in the top 12' or whatever it is rule).

The Mr. President's handlers dropped the ball.  Should have come out and after the 110 played Hail to the Chief, broken into his best Psy  imitation, chanting, "Obama Style" with some  moves to the beat of the band and brought down the house.  Of course, maybe not the best idea if he dances like he bowls.

That's true, there were about 14000 people who filled the College Green. It's also true that most of these people were standing outside the Green in one of 4 lines for 2-5+ hours. Then, when inside on the Green, they waited for up to 3 more hours to hear the President speak, and they stood in one place all that time. And they knew from the start that all this would happen.

Taking nothing away from the great football support, what do you think the football crowd size would have been if they knew they would be doing the same thing prior to kickoff? (And I'd give the students credit for choosing to spend their time in other ways.)

Why you gotta knock the football team's accomplishment and fan support?

On one of the sites that showed that video (not sure if it was the youtube site) the young man who is only shown saying ummm.......replies that he paused before giving a long response that he thought more than covered his position. In others words, the tape was edited leaving out his response. I would guess that, while the answers were what they were overall, it would be typical of most adults or students as segments of Jay Leno's "Jaywalking" show us each week.
