I posted it in the General Discussion forum too, but might as well report it here too: Arkley pointed out that Saturday's football game out gained the Leader of the Free World by approximately 12,000 people. My how times have changed in Athens!
That's true, there were about 14000 people who filled the College Green. It's also true that most of these people were standing outside the Green in one of 4 lines for 2-5+ hours. Then, when inside on the Green, they waited for up to 3 more hours to hear the President speak, and they stood in one place all that time. And they knew from the start that all this would happen.
Taking nothing away from the great football support, what do you think the football crowd size would have been if they knew they would be doing the same thing prior to kickoff? (And I'd give the students credit for choosing to spend their time in other ways.)
