All the Freshmen other than Daz Patterson appear to be redshirting. Laseak is listed on the depth chart, but hasn't played, so I believe they are trying to preserve his redshirt. I also believe Mark Smith, LG, is redshirting per plan, since they also had both Carlotta and Lechner, and Matt Pritchard as well.
Of the injured players, we also know that Carrie applied for, and was granted, a sixth year. What about the other players who are out for the season? To get a medical redshirt, they have to have played in less than 30% of the games, which would be 3.6 games, so 3, based on a 12 game season. On the other hand, if Ohio plays in the MACC and a bowl, that would be 14 games, and 30% would be 4.2, but I don't know if the 30% applies only to regular season games or includes post-season ones. Also, they can't have redshirted before, though if the prior redshirt was also caused by an injury, they can apply for a sixth year, but I believe they have to wait until their Senior season to do so.
OL - Matt Prichard - played only against NMSU and Norfolk State, but I have no clue if he is eligible for one, or would want it if he could get it, since he is a walkon Senior.
TE - Jordan Thompson - played in 6 games, his career is over
LG - Sam Johnson - played in the first 4 games, and has also redshirted, so probably is not eligible
WR - Mario Dovell - played in only 1 game, but redshirted his first year. I think that his first redshirt was also caused by him recovering from knee surgery following an injury in high school. Thus, on the surface, it would appear that he could also apply for a sixth year. I believe that he has to wait until next year to apply, since he isn't a Senior yet.
S - Xavier Hughes - played in 4 games, and also previously redshirted, so probably is not eligible
CB - Jamil Shaw - played only against Penn State, I think, but previously redshirted, so probably is not eligible
I note that Tony Davis, who has not redshirted before, has played in only 1 game. If he isn't playing because of injury, he should be eligible for a medical redshirt.
