Normally, I like to single out particular players, but there are so few standouts on this team that it's not worth it. I would do John Klacik, but it's not nice to make fun of the disabled. So let's talk about the boys in the trenches!

Miami proudly trumpets the size of their line. They average 253 pounds and a height of 6'3". Not bad! How is all that beef working? Let's see...
  • Allowing 37.6 points a game
  • Allowing 243.9 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns per game
  • Allowing 5.6 yards per carry
  • Opponents are averaging 76.5 offensive plays a game
  • Allowing opponents to convert 55% of third downs and 56% of fourth downs
  • Unofficially, the line has just two sacks on the season
I'm sure Tyler and Beau and shaking in their cleats.

Ryan too.  Much as I like balanced stats, I would love to see three backs over 100. If Jones and Scott were 100 percent I would think there would be four with lots of yards.

If Frank Solich — before the game — announced he wasn't going to throw the ball once, Ohio would have a puncher's chance in this game.

They played well, but we helped by running so many plays right up the middle.  The outside was wide open all day but Albin must not have noticed

A youth league team could stop Ohio running up the middle. All of the runs that were successful were to the outside yet Albin continued to call for plays in key situations to be run right up the middle where Miami had 8 guys.

It wasn't just the runs, they had a ton of sacks and pressure. Dysert had a good game, too, and the Miami running backs did fine, and you have to give Coach Treadwell credit, too. Congratulations to Miami for a well played game.

Now we get to see how we play after we wake up in the ditch.

I didn't think Ohio dedicated itself to the run the way it needed to. When Ohio wins, it wears down the opponent and in the fourth quarter takes control of a game and can run the ball at will late. I never got the feeling they did that to Miami.

I call games like this the Andy Reid Special.

But credit does go to Miami. Their guys up front had motors.

It seems,somehow coach Albin got it into his head (media/players) that he needed to open things up.  Me, I was happy with the 36 ppg conservative, wear em down offense you reference.
