#23. Congrats to them.

I’m unspeakably jealous and envious, but happy to see MACtion representing.

Hope they beat Miami by 75. Not inconceivable they move into the Top 15 by the time bowls roll around. Basically they’re having the season I thought we could.

That's great for them, but what they really need to do is crack the CFP poll. The top-ranked G5 champ in the CFP gets an invitation to a NY6 bowl, which means a hefty payout. If Toledo were to get there, it would mean more cash for all MAC teams. So far, only one-loss Tulane has made the CFP, even though Liberty and JMU have been undefeated until this week, when JMU lost None of the four has beaten a good "P" team -- JMU beat UVA, which has had a losing season; Toledo lost in OT at Illinois; Tulane lost badly to Ole Miss; Liberty has played all G3 teams -- so heaven knows why Tulane is getting all the CFP attention.

I forgot all about that. Last year conferences got $6M for a team making the CFP.

One thing I didn't realize is they also make $300,000 per bowl eligible team (which really hurts this season).

Myrtle Beach Bowl - Unannounced
Quick Lane Bowl - $2,000,000
LendingTree Bow - $1,500,000
Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl - $1,125,000
New Mexico Bowl - $1,050,000
Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl - $900,000
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl - $800,000

Cure Bowl - $573,125
Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl - $350,000
Camellia Bowl - $300,000

Man... The Bahamas Bowl payout probably doesn't cover transportation for the players and coaches, let alone the non-football staff, equipment, band, food, lodging... At least people get to enjoy being in the Bahamas for a week.

Well, the Bahamas Bowl is being played in Charlotte this year due to (I think) stadium renovations in the Bahamas, so travel expenses will be way down...unfortunately being able to enjoy the Bahamas for a week will also be waaayyy down

It'll be awesome for the Cats to have a shot at an AP Top 25 team in the MACCG!!!
Wait, I forgot our football program sh!ts the bed when it matters.

Congrats to Toledo, they'll probably go to the American Athletic Conference soon enough.

I’m intrigued by which team (s) would be most likely to join another conference. It seems to me it would be Toledo and Buffalo. Maybe then Miami and then us.

Feels like in terms of most likely, Buffalo would probably get the Temple treatment.

Toledo would probably be the most competitive.

Miami hasn't been consistently good at anything, but Hockey in like two decades, so I doubt their small blip recently is gonna move the needle.

OU I thought had a chance during the Frank/Groce-era, but I'm not too sure. We also have a pretty consistently strong programs. Good academics. A solid reputation for putting out journalists and sports admin folks. A lot of tradition. Beautiful campus. Traditionally the highest attendance. I think you get that beauty factor of a rural campus, and a proud alumni student base that would align well with a couple conferences... but geographically it might pose a challenge.

Still shut out of the CFP. Three openings this week went to NCSt (8-3) at #20, Clemson (7-4) at #24,and Liberty (11-0) at #25. Tulane (10-1) moved up a notch to #23.

Happy for Toledo. You have to think Jason Candle's days in the Glass City are numbered. He could get a big-time job.

Let's hope they drill CMU on Friday then slaughter Fiami in the MAC Championship.

It would have been something if we had taken care of business and potentially had a MAC CG with two ranked teams.

Some solid mid-tier P5 jobs out there right now.

Michigan State, maybe even Northwestern might be a little too big of a jump, but Syracuse should throw a bag at him.

Like Albin, he's been at UT for like 15 years. Unlike Albin, JC is just 44. I'm wondering if AD's view him as being too inexperienced? Has never even been an assistant at those big stops. I'm sure he could do it - but if you had to bet $50M on someone, you might hesitate.
