OU opens up as -9.5 favorites.

Unfortunately, CMU has all the motivation they need to beat us. They're currently 5-5 and finish the season with Toledo. We're their only shot at a bowl game.

Meanwhile, OU has been playing sad and sluggish for weeks.

If last week was any indication, they're gonna need some sort of major pep talk for this game. One would hope the chance to get to back-to-back 10 win seasons would be all the motivation we need, but alas that opening half at Buffalo was a YUCK fest.

I guess you never played sports at any level. The guys on both teams want to win and play hard all the time. One team wins and one team loses. Fan"atic"s think if their team loses or doesn't win by enough points, somehow they didn't want it bad enough or some such drivel. These games are a big deal to both teams and they don't need special pep talks.

Counterpoint you're dealing with a bunch of 18-23 year olds and any given day they might not be as motivated as you think. If what you say were true, favored teams would almost always win because they're inherently better. This is why upsets happen.

We;re something like 5-30 all time vs these guys. Seems like they beat us even when we're having a decent year and they're not.

In the second half vs Buffalo we did better when we picked up the tempo. We had several big plays when we snapped the ball with more than 20 seconds left on the play clock. It seemed to give the offense more energy. We'll need more of that Wednesday night.

The Bobcats have dropped the last five games to CMU. They are a thorn in Ohio's side and will be very tough to defeat. The majority of the last five games have been very tight.

I will say, like I did for the Buffalo game, we need to force turnovers to insure this victory.

This is pretty clear and obvious to everyone - except Giacomo and his butt buddy who haven't had a single intelligent take all year. Naturally, they think OU was banging on all cylinders with their -9 yard first quarter, bc they played JV golf back in 1968.

There is that “favored” again. It’s obvious that a 6-3 team is better than a 3-6 team, but that doesn’t mean they should win the game if “only they played hard”. That’s why they play the games. There are many reasons why someone wins and loses, but these kids take it very seriously and it is the highlight of their week to be playing. I know most people don’t believe that, but most people have never met former president Richard Milhous Nixon. They don’t know Dick.

OUr friend BIGGAMEBOOMER said he will be in attendance in his "favorite college town" for some mid-week MACtion vs CMU.

Should be pretty ideal weather for November football. 64 and sun all day. 53 degrees at kick-off.

Hopefully the student crowd is a little larger than normal, but it's probably exam week (?) with Thanksgiving Break next week.

Exams are after Thanksgiving nowadays, but it will still be a terrible crowd.

Thanksgiving hasn't been exam time since OU got rid of quarters. They are on semesters now.

Who cares if we're 5-27-2 against the Chippewas? (Do we possibly have a worse record against anyone? How are they not our arch-rivals? We should HATE them!, lol) And they have the motivation to snatch a bowl and ruin our home finale. It's PUPS AT PEDEN and we're going to win because I'm bringing Bader, my dog.

I felt relatively young until today. I can't believe they got rid of our long break. That 9 week break was so clutch, and probably the only reason I could afford to stay at OU.

BGB is another internet famous guy (200K followers across insta and twitter) in the vein of Barstool, less "bro content". He focuses on college sports, mostly football. He ranks players and teams, college towns, campus food joints, all that sort of thing. He's always ranked OU and other MAC teams favorably, so I enjoy his content. (Last week ranked OU #42 in Coaching Duos with Albin/Boals)

He was at Marshall two or three weeks ago, and they gave him field passes, full tour of the facilities. It was pretty wild the amount of access he had, but I enjoyed the 'coverage'. Was at SMU last week, Wyoming, Oregon State, Minnesota.

So CMU is being investigated for knowingly allowing Michigan sign-stealing scout - wearing CMU gear - to stand on their sideline vs. Mich. State? How did I miss this?

One of the most agonizing home losses I have witnessed was against CMU in 2013. We led late, got a stop, CMU was punting. All we had to do was take possession and run out the clock. The punt was muffed by Carrie, CMU goes down and scores the game winning TD with less than 30 seconds left. Oooofff.

It slipped through the cracks at some point during the investigation last week as an internet sleuther found him on the CMU sidelines wearing their gear. McIlwain had to answer questions from the media about it - from what I understand they had no idea who he was or how he got there but they're cooperating fully with the NCAA. Whether you choose to believe they did or didn't know is up to you, but I find it hard to believe a guy could make his way onto an NCAA sideline (with a pass!) and nobody knew about it.
