Everything was set up for them to win the MAC East. A good returning cast, a weaker division and Gabbert hurt. The staff seems either unwilling or unable to change their strategy. If they were not the most talented team in the division right now, I wouldn't feel this way. If Gabbert had sliced them up for 300 yards I wouldn't feel this way.

It will never be easier than it should've been this year.

Coaches have been fired for a lot less.

I was done with Albin when he took his head set-off to pout vs NIU.

Spense and Brian should take over.

It'd be one thing if we were getting beat and we looked like we were even trying. This team has quit, and even worse - it looks like Albin has quit too.

All the Ablinites had their moment in the sun last season, when we still didn't win the MAC. This staff has no charisma, no spark. Just wasting the talent that this squad has.

I had no problem with them not winning the MAC last year and wouldn't have had any problem with them losing a tough game against Toledo this year in the MAC Championship. It's when you look like you can't make adjustments all season and doom yourself by losing badly to an outgunned Miami team on Halloween that does it for me.

Lmao we should absolutely not be ok with them losing the MAC. This is the kind of mindset that gets us complacent and is causing regression. It needs to be MACC. Nothing else matters.

You misinterpreted my statement. I'm just not advocating firing coached for not winning the MAC championship last year or this year. I think someone should be held accountable for having the best talent on the field and getting outcoached right now.

The way things have been going of late I don't think Albin could coach his way out of a wet paper bag in a flood.

We've had the best talent on the field many times in the past and still not gotten over the hump. We won 8-9 games and lose in the MACCG and are like oh well, at least we aren't going 0-10/11

Sorry but they are not the most talented team in the division. Miami have so much better special teams, i mean much better- returns, kicking, punting. Their defense is not much better or worse than ours - a wash there. Our offense can’t score points or run the ball for some reason - dumb penalties being part of the problem all around. Lick our wounds. admit the team won and move all.

I think you are confusing performance with talent. I think that Rourke, despite having some limitations this year, is an elite MAC passing talent. There is no way our offense should've folded like that after being up 9-0. It was North Illinois, the sequel.

Aren’t these the same two just a month ago some on this board were worried would be leaving Athens after this year for greener coaching pastures? Could only watch the first half had a family commitment but I was not surprised by the final score. Truth be told we could easily be on a 3 game losing streak. Our offense has been a massive disappointment all year, particularly the Oline. We cannot run the ball. That coupled with the mind numbing running the play clock to zero on EVERY play before snapping the ball leaves us standing in quick sand. Christ if nothing else change up the snap count-run some tempo. Has Albin and his brain trust noticed this starting at a dead stop-statute like formation ain’t cutting it.

I agree with this assessment.

The real baffling thing to me is our inability to run the ball UTM or off tackle. It must be on the OL since our main RBs are back from last year, and they are both pretty good, IMHO.

A question about the RB Amos. I believed that I noticed on many plays when the QB handed him the ball there was kind of a pause while he waited for a hole to open up. It seemed like this late push by their OL confused our DL. Sort of a timing thing, I think. You always this kind of delay by RBs every now and then, but it seemed to me it was taking place very regularly and virtually every time resulted in a big gainer for the Redchickens. I may not have observed this correctly, as I didn't have the best angle. I'm sure some of the football gurus on this can tell me if my observations are correct, and if they were, exactly what was going on.

I think playing with tempo would help the rhythm of the offense as well as open up the run game

People need to understand the mac will always beat eachother up. We are probably better than NIU but we lost. Miami maybe loses to buffalo and chokes against ball state and we find ourselves in the MACC. Unlikely yes but crazier things have happened. Even if that doesn’t happen and we win out. We sit at 9-3 and a bowl game win puts us at 10-3. That’s two straight 10 win seasons for Albin. As for Isphording we struggled this year but last year we had a very elite offense. Why the struggles this year idk. Fixes and adjustments clearly need to be made but we should see how the year plays out. If we finish year well should see how next year goes. If we regress next year would be more open to firing. If the year finishes badly we collapse play badly in next few games maybe would be more open to firing this year but historically we are performing better than usual. Don’t want to continue to fall short of MACC title but don’t think we are far off. Don’t know if blowing the ship up helps us get any closer.

I guess overall point would be I would rather be in the race constantly than be terrible how we were pre solich /Albin and how Kent or Akron are now. 1-7 and and absolute dumpster fire. Mediocrity can be frustrating after awhile but we haven’t really been mediocre we have fallen just short and been unlucky. Would rather be that than terrible. If we are 1-7 idk if would even watch todays game. At least now we are in the mix every year and makes us want to watch and be interested.

I would like to see Rourke's stats on throws over twenty yards. It seems we still attempt those, maybe not as often as 2022, but they all fail. Perhaps losing Bostic and then Jones to injury is a bigger factor than we can imagine. Rourke's health status has to be a factor at some level, too.

Since we aren't hitting deep passes, our offense has stumbled into a conservative up the middle run game with short-medium passing mixed in. The offensive line isn't opening up running lanes and IMHO one of our running backs has lost a step, so we're limited to small gains.

Gone are the well timed clever trick plays, too. We aren't running the option. I keep waiting for something to change. The law of averages tells me at some point Bangura or Allison will break a tackle and get a few six yard runs, but nope. Our offense is entirely predictable, incredibly limited, and also mistake prone (penalties, turnovers).

I may be in the minority here.

But,in my opinion, any discussion about firing Albin or Isphording must also include the A.D.

Since she was hired, she's been very good at "feathering her own nest".

But I can't think of anything good she's accomplished for O.U.

Again,in my opinion, the Albin contract extension was premature and looked like
she "panicked".

Most recently there was the way she handled the issues with the wrestling team.
That was an embarrassment that was noticed nationwide by the college wrestling community.

Oh, for god's sake.

She had ZERO influence over the wrestling situation. University's legal and HR departments took total control of it. They were warned not to speak of it.

For those in the know who follow the non revenue sports, how have her hires done? Asking for a friend.
