Guys-how bout first and goal on the four in the third quarter.  BB is on the bench.  The first play is PASS and I think it's either incomplete or we get sacked.  Everything went downhill in that series.  We got a FG but ...why is the toughest runner not in the game?  Why didn't we run it four times?  Sometimes you have to play smash mouth football and run it in.  We did not have to get cute or finnese them.

Late first half, take over in Miami territory and go three-and out. Could have had the lead heading into the half.

Smith was open in the endzone right in front of Tettleton. Missed a chance at a great win.  Need to focus on the next game, we can still have a great season.

Even the Columbia,SC newspaper says"0hio gambled instead of taking the game tying field goal". There were seven possible outcomes with six of the seven being bad.

sack
fumble
penalty on offense
incomplete pass
pass short of the end zone with no score
interception

or the unlikely touchdown

Any coach would have tried a pass play before electing to kick the field goal. Trouble is, one of the 2 worst possible outcomes happened - a sack. No one would kick a tying field goal away from home, when there is  a chance to run a quick play to try and get the win. TT is a great QB, but that last play was on him, not the coaches.

No other way to look at that - TT choked. Love him, but he choked.

Remind me of the old adage.  Is it:  Play to WIN at Home and TIE on the Road?  I didn't really mind going for it once I just hated the outcome.

I don't care if it's home or away, 99 percent of coaches take one shot there. It was supposed to be a pass to Foster in the corner that has worked a lot this year, but it was covered this time. It's one of those kinds of plays where you throw it right away, where only your guy can get it. If executed properly, there is no risk, only the possibility of reward, but Tettleton admittedly screwed up. But again, if not for Tettleton, Ohio would not have been in that position. He was almost perfect to that point on that drive.

Can't blame Solich for taking a shot there, with our momentum and there was just enough time on the clock to get a play off.  But it was one of those deals you have to know your situational football.  No timeouts and 10 seconds left mean you make a quick throw or you throw it out of bounds no other options.  Hopefully TT will learn from this and be more prepared in the future.

Why is T2 getting all the blaim? How about a little blocking on the line and a roll out so he can get out of bounds. Even San Diego had a play against the Browns where they took a shot, the ball gets tipped at the line and the offensive lineman caught it. After being able to drive 70 yards I like our odds in overtime, you have a 50% chance to win in overtime but what's you odds of throwing a touchdown pass there. How many touchdowns passes had T2 thrown in the game and hadn't he been sacked a few times?

I said this earlier on a post right after getting home from the game:  TT was not himself all day.  Early on he was yelling at receivers and then throwing balls everywhere but to open receivers.  And, he got sacked sai times!  When was the last time he had six sacks?  I think part of it was probably the go ahead to scramble whereas all year he would have thrown those balls away because of the nagging injury.

Agree though, we left so many points out there and made so many other mistakes that we were lucky to be in position to win at the end.  I think the biggest was the first and goal from the five and not having BB in there to power it in on four tries.

Oh, and I continue to say: why do we have a safety on Harwell in the first quarter with no help (or probably a blown assignment).  Harwell runs right by him for a 54 yard TD.  Gotta have DBs/LBs on him tight and safety help up top which we did the rest of the game.

I'm sure everyone associated with OHIO football is disappointed but we still have a potentially very good season going.  Let's play more determined the rest of the way and FINISH STRONG!

I still love TT's aggressiveness, but we can hope today is a game he learns from. Playing smart beats playing aggressive.....

Tyler, own this defeat and show you're a true leader by coming back with your best game Thursday night. There is still plenty of unfinished business this season. Go win the MAC!

I'm sure no one feels worse about this loss that TT, but now it's time to look forward, not backwards.

Go Bobcats. Go TT. Beat EMU! Let's get back on track.

We always roll Tyler out right.  Might try left a bit--surprise the other side, make them defend new stuff and the whole field.
