Since I need something happy in my life right now.  How many wins do you think Temple would have had this year if they had been playing in the MAC?  If their schedule last year was in play this year I think they definitely end up with less than 8 wins, so say 5 or 6?

This year's schedule so far:
Villanova W
Maryland L
Penn State L
South Florida W
Connecticut W
#15 Rutgers L
Pittsburgh L
#10 Louisville
Cincinnati
Army
Syracuse

Last year's schedule:
Villanova W
Akron W
Penn State L
Maryland W
Toledo L
Ball State W
Buffalo W
Bowling Green L
Ohio L
Miami (OH) W
Army W
Kent State W

I'm sorry, but the lack of interest in Temps could fill Lincoln Financial Field.  There was an ESPN blog on what we learned abut the Big Least this weekend, and it mentioned -- under the heading "Don't schedule the MAC" -- how well Kent performed against a Rutgers team that completely shut down Temps last week.  I almost posted it, but decided why bother.  I have no thoughts about Temps one way or another.  Total apathy.

I'm sorry?

What did you say?

I can't hear you over the cash register ringing!

Even if we don't win another game... the move to the Big East has improved our program exponentially.

New basketball facilities
Upgraded football faciilities
Improved attendance
Huge Marketing campaign
New scoreboard in the basketball arena.

And it hasn't even been a full year yet or a new tv contract!

All of that stuff is great (and I do honestly wish Temple well in the BE) but when it comes down to it, all that matters is wins.

I only see two more wins from Temple this season.  Leaving them out of a bowl game.  Our other ex-MAC friend ,Marshall, will likely end up 6-6.  Do they make a bowl game?  Considering how bad CUSA is, then I would guess not.  I would love to see 7 MAC schools get a Bowl game over both of these schools.

Oh, wait....This is from a Temple blog.  I'm no bowl expert, but I thought you had to have 6 wins to get to a bowl?

**Nevermind...I did some more reading.  Looks like they are trying to schedule a 12th game.  It is November and they don't have a complete schedule. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/colleges/temple/20121102_Temple-Hawaii_football_game_appears_to_be_set.html  What a mess...

According to Hawaii's athletic administration, the school and Temple have reached an "agreement in principle" to play a football game on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.

Whether it will be a day that lives in infamy or regular fame will be determined by whether or not the Owls are able to squeeze two wins out of their next four games.

I think they're assuming that they'll beat Hawaii (1-6).  If they win two of the next four plus beat Hawaii, they would be bowl eligible.  Their problem, however, is that all the bowl bids should be doled out by December 2nd -- the Sunday before their planned game with Hawaii -- which is the Sunday of the last weekend of the regular season for some and is after the conference championship games.  The final bowl slot for the Big Least is the Beef O'Brady's Bowl on December 21; I'm not sure the NCAA would let them keep another school hanging until December 7 or 8 before finding out if they're going to a bowl game in two weeks.  Plus, it may affect the picks for other bowl games, depending on the deals that might have to be cut to fill all the slots.  My guess is that if the NCAA approves it, they'll require Temps and Hawaii to get to six wins before that game in order to be bowl eligible.  (Hawaii already has 12 games, but can schedule a 13th because of their remoteness from the mainland.)

We could always count on temple to give the Bobcats a late season win over an over hyped team. I miss that.

The BE is a better fit for Temple so I'm happy for them, and I'm glad the conference is giving them more money to play lower quality opponents.

Wow - Temple ended up with only an 11 game schedule this year? No wonder they are trying to find an extra game.

Speaking of Temple, they lose again today. It isn't looking like it will be a good year for them.

Lower level opponents?  I do hope that is a joke!

Gotta agree on this one.  The top of the MAC is as good as it has been in years, and I think we would be very competitive with the Big East.  But the bottom of our conference IS the bottom of FBS.

Are you sure you want that out there 'cause, except for Eastern, those "bottom" teams are the same ones giving good ol' Ohio fits.  We haven't seen the top yet.

A spade is a spade; green colored glasses can't cover up the fact that our competition is down.  Lose several starters and you have problems.  That goes for just about every team out there.
