So I decided to watch the MACC game tonight.  Part of me wants to see a MAC team in a BCS bowl..part of me is scared of watching Kent State get destroyed in said BCS bowl in front of 6 of thier 15 fans that will make the trip to the Orange Bowl...

What should I do?

Ohio University stands to make a lot of money from Kent State going to the BCS. Who cares if they killed? They were there and anyone who says anything is just jealous.

Agreed...Kent gives us the best chance at a nice payday and great exposure for the conference.

I can't believe we live in a world where Spencer Keith could quarterback a team to a MAC championship. I'm having some major cognitive dissonance in rooting for that outcome.

Tonight's game is in the Rat's Arse Dept.  Whoever wins, it won't be Ohio, so who cares.  If one of them gets into a BCS game, great.  If it helps elevate the MAC, I'm for it.  But it's not Ohio, so I don't intend to watch.

So in your other "Mac in a nutshell" feel good thread you are supporting the MAC, but you wouldn't watch the championship game? Way to support your fellow conference teams. It's actually much more entertaining than last years debacle.

Actually, Kent will go to a BCS game if they win. They'll end higher than the Big East champ and by virtue of #15 Texas losing to K-State and #16 UCLA going down to Stanford (because both of those will happen), they'll be above #16. That means they automatically receive the Orange Bowl bid. NIU can do the same, but the jump from #21 to #16 is harder than Kent's jump from  #17 to #16.
All that being said, I still want NIU to win. Because I hate Kent.

Northern tackles extremely well.  Kinda nice to see and wish we looked that good making tackles most of the season. (cue parents getting pissed)

I'm cheering for Kent, but I think NIU will win.  I don't think NIU's shot to jump from 21 to 16 with a win over 17 is as crazy as people think though...

TT looked as good as Jordan Lynch in the FIPB, perhaps better, especially when running the ball.  I think TT was still hurt through the season, hence his lack of confidence through the end of the season.  By the Military Bowl it would be great to see him confident in his decisions and 100% healthy,

Not if they finish higher than a BCS league champion, then it's only 16.  And, either KSU or NIU will finish higher than Louisville.

If the BCS could get out of picking a #16 MAC team I am sure they would, but they can't.  Those silly guys made the rules actually help non-AQ teams.

I can support the MAC without torturing myself by watching a game that we should've been in.  Since we're not a Nielsen household, whether or not I watch the game has no bearing on the MAC's stature.

We finished 3rd in the East, 6th best in the MAC, so how do you get we should have been playing in that game?

Just lamenting about what could've been this season.  Hated to see this team fall apart over the last five games.  Not just the injuries, but the frustration the players showed.

No, we should have NOT been in the MACC .. we weren't even close. NIU is a much better team than we are. They had a ton of penalties and dominated Kent. Only the turnovers kept Kent in it IMO.

If the game went double OT, you didn't dominate.

I was rooting for Kent State because they had a better chance to get in.  A lot of stuff broke NIU's way.  But now that they are apparently in the Orange Bowl I am happy that they won because I think they have a better chance to pull off the upset.

I had zilch interest in watching the game, but I'm glad NIU won.  They've had three straight 10+ win seasons, and went to the MACCG three straight years with three different head coach/QB combinations.  They have the credentials to be the first BCS buster from the MAC, and have less of a chance of being blown out by FSU than Kent would.
