Pretty much got what we expected - 1 first teamer- Sammy and 1 second teamer-Rourke.
4 total on defense-first teamers-Houston and Thompson
I’d say we don’t get much respect overall- probably earned a little better, but maybe not.

Our season in a nutshell. Rourke 2022 Verne Smith, 2023 2nd team all MAC. 2023 offense 95th total offense FBS.

Houston and Thompson 1st team all MAC, defense #4 total defense FBS.

The season that shoulda been.

Win the bowl and get back to back 10 wins.

It says a lot when we can't get one offensive lineman among the top 15 in the league. The O line didn't show it could dominate until the last couple games of the season. That's when we got our only 100-yd rushers of the season (Bangura both times). They struggled for most of the season and so did the offense.

Gage Larvadain too. He's 2nd in the conference in receiving, but WOWSER, would love to know who Anthony Sambucci's parents know. Hiliare got their off his name alone.

Glad I wasn't the only one who looked at that list, dumbfounded not to see Miles Cross anywhere!

Larvadain had 273 yards against UMass. Non-conference against a weak team really hurt him.

Re-doing this table with conference-only stats, the exclusion of Larvadain makes perfect sense, but the exclusion of Cross becomes all the more outrageous. Cross was #1 in yards, #2 in receptions, and #1(tie) in TDs.

My only beef is that we only had 3 defensive players honored on 3 teams. We had one of the top defenses NATIONALLY!!! How do we not get a pair of DBs like Walter Reynolds, Austin Brawley or Adonis Williams on any of the teams? Complete disrespect as usual for the Bobcats. But, I also understand that we are perennially picked to win and we always disappoint so I am sure voters were excited to take advantage of the fact that we were 9-3 and a second-place team who trailed at halftime to Akron.

I agree about Williams and I thought Mathews might of made one of the teams.

There are only two possible conclusions that I can think of. One is that they were prejudiced against Ohio players. The other is that Nowinsky deserves the credit. and that the strong defense is a credit to scheme more so than players.

In this case, I think Spense squeezed a lot of juice out of these players and they all bought in. Statistically there aren't a lot of standouts, (other than Houston and Thompson tackling everything in sight) its more of a group effort week in and week out.

If you closed your eyes and thought about this season would you believe that our sack leader had 4.5? We're kind of similar defensively to Michigan where our 30 total sacks came from 15 dudes.

The best example is Shane Bonner. He identified the talent and found a role for him.

BG had 10 players on the all conference teams. How do they get four more players than Ohio? No way that Ball St, Central and Western have more players awarded than Ohio! Typical nonsense from the MAC!

I haven’t checked this out, but it seems to me that we substituted a lot. The stats for individual players would be lower and not many standouts. We seemed to have a lot of depth.

And teams with porous D lines create more tackle opportunities for their LBs and DBs.
