I think they promote De'Angelo Smith, but I was watching a really good segment on the frequency of hiring and firing - centered on Texas A&M and how they're gonna eat $75M to fire Jimbo, but will more than make that up in donations, merch, ad sales, publicity etc when Elko is introduced.
And even among smaller P5's and G5's the goal is smaller, but similar - keep the wheel turning. Keeping interest up. Keeping money coming in. Keeping eyes on the program. A new coach can sell hopes and dreams. New visions! New life! Front page of ESPN! Alright! Exciting! Give us donations. Live this dream with us! Whole bunch of new recruits. We're gonna get this right and this is the guy to do it wahoo! Be apart of the new wave!
As opposed to someone who just wins 8 games every year and everyone expects it and it gets stale.
Firing and hiring is a part of college football as much as anything, and most places need it to keep the money train moving. New AD's want to put their stamp on a program as well.
With that said, I don't think Jimbo Fisher is coming to Ohio, but DLo might be a solid hire.
