How about 5, count 'em, 5 schools from Ohio making it to bowls.  By my count, that's just 1 less than CA, and 1 MORE than Fl...

The MAC overall is improving year-by-year.  Hopefully we all do well in our respective games and the MAC again makes a statement this year like last year by having the best overall conference win record in the bowls.  This is how our conference will increase its national footprint.

It's really a shame that Ohio State couldn't join the bowl party

So, all 7 MAC teams made it in -- a new record.

How the heck did we get the highest paying bowl for the MAC, outside of the BCS bowl game?

And for what it is worth, my ESPN app buzzed me with Ohio's bowl selection.  I then went to look up NIU and, at 9:30PM ET on 12/2/12 ESPN had them confirmed as playing in the FIPB.  My heart sunk.  Glad to see it was not true.

La. Tech shot themselves in the foot by asking for more time to make decision on Independence Bowl. They hoped for a better offer and when none came they were out in the cold.

A Landmark day for the MAC. I remember a few short years ago after Marshall left, some pundits surmised the best days of the conference were behind us. I know many Marshall fans rue the day they left the conference, now I bet some administrators in Huntington think the same thing. What a pay day for the MAC. Who would have thought 15-20 years ago that MAC football would have surpassed MAC basketball?  It took a concerted effort from many to get here, which is a lesson for other conferences as well as MAC basketball.

This turned out better than I imagined. I wanted to see all six MAC teams with winning records make it to bowls, so that way we wouldn't have to listen to the odd team out complain about why they were snubbed. Imagine how Central Michigan feels. They go from no hope of a bowl game to a bowl game. I'm still surprised after all the projections I studied, how Ohio ended up in the Independence Bowl. I kept checking the Military Bowl sight thinking that was going to be a done deal. And if not, maybe the Beef O' Brady's Bowl. Anyway, it's a great time for the Mid-American Conference. Now we can put our differences aside and pull for our league!

9. Independence (Ohio vs. Louisiana-Monroe): You're asking yourself right now why this game is in the top 10. Both teams won eight games. The Warhawks had a better SEC winning percentage (.500) than six SEC teams. The Bobcats won their first seven games, including beating Penn State. Kolton Browning and Tyler Tettleton are worth the price of admission -- yes, that's right.

If you add up all the money thats a whopping $24,025,000 or $1,848,076.92 to each Mac Team. That is amazing. I have to ask, do you think having seven Mac teams in a bowl and four ranked this year plus one playing a BCS bowl will help with attendance next year? I hope we have multiple sellouts and increase more interest in MAC football.

That is not what the MAC gets. Put aside the BCS Bowl, teams will be lucky if the guaranteed payout covers their expenses.
