I was reading an article on Street and Smith's website about the array of bowl swag that was handed out this season. Here is the link:
http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2012/12...
;
Here is what they said we received for playing in our bowl:
Gift suite, Timely watch, New Era cap, football.
Does anyone know what kind of loot was in our gift suite? Just curious......
Also, when a team wins the game and there are caps, t-shirts etc. does that have to come from the $550 max or is that considered separate?
Most of the bowls give out comparable items like backpacks, caps, commemoratives etc. There were some more clever gifts too, like the Meineke Texas Bowl handing out belt buckles. I
think I most enjoyed reading about how many players, given the opportunity to go shopping at a local store, were buying gifts for others.

If you don't know how the gift suite works, you get to use 7 points.
There are 1 point items, 2 point items, and so on, but you get to use 7 points.
I know that one of the 7 point items this year was a leather recliner.

It's nice to see that most of the bowl games are leaning towards items that are commemorative or at least going to last several years, as opposed to the latest Xbox which might be on a garbage heap in five years...unless they are part of the gift suite.
