Silver Linings Playbook.  A thread in this current-release-movie is a family's ties to the Philadelphia Eagles.  So, this is sorta about football.

G.F. and I saw the movie last night.  There are a number of fine writers and almost 100% good people on this board.  That being the case, I heartily recommend this movie.  Could be the best movie that I've ever seen.  I really feel that it was terrific.  I'm curious what others think.

It's a really, really well written movie.  Writer clearly is someone with a lot of depth, of understanding of people.

A friend who's seen it described it as dark.  I'd say that the first half is more jarring than dark.  Parts are hysterically funny ('I wanted to be romantic.')  Essentially, it's a romantic comedy about two people who have mental problems.  You know how 'Slumdog' was so different and fun.  This is much more serious and has more depth than 'Slumdog' but has the same type of blew-me-away originality.

If Jennifer Lawrence (spelling?) doesn't win the Oscar, it's a crime.  Brad Cooper should win also.  Bob De Niro is great also.

Go see it.

Speaking of movies and Eagles....how about Invincible..... WR Vince Papale.....30 year old oldest rookie on an NFL squad without college experience:

I was going to make fun of Monroe for starting a thread about romantic comedies, but then realized that it would make me a hypocrite since I previously did that as well in a thread last year:

When watching the game Sunday night, you can get your Oscar fix by thinking of how the nominated best movies correlate with Ohio:

‘The Artist’ -- Coach Groce has painted a masterpiece of a season; Sunday's win "silences" Akron fans
‘Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’ -- The true story of the OZone
‘The Help’ -- Kudos to the Ohio bench that has played a solid role in this team's success
‘Hugo’ -- For purposes of this post, let's rename this movie 'Ivo"
‘Midnight in Paris’ -- When it's midnight in Paris, Miami still sucks
‘Moneyball’ -- That's what we yell whenever Nick puts up a trey
‘War Horse’ -- Keely, Smith and Baltic's hard work inside the paint and on the glass
‘The Descendants’ -- We're glad Clark Kellogg's son chose Ohio
‘The Tree of Life’ -- I miss yelling "Tree!" whenever Tree Greenwood would get into a game

Turney--Congratulations!  Splendid!  Will be glad to read it.  Please put up a post here when it's available.

Apologies to our other noted author here, Mike Johnson.  He's more prolific (6, 7 novels out now?!) than my ability to find time to read 'em...I'm about 4 behind.

Ahem, Monroe, one Vernon Alden is three ahead of you.  A few days ago I received his second "enjoyed the books"  letter in the last few weeks.  That man knows how to give me goosebumps.

Hoping to be visiting Eastern Europe again in another couple months which would be central to Book 7.
