I might come over...I might not. But what does this really accomplish?
Will the players perform better? Will more people come to the games? Will we generate more money for the athletic department? I don't think this goes towards accomplishing any particular goal.
If your reason for doing it is that "Penn State and O$U do", I'm not sure it's all that worthwhile.
It could do all of the above. Under the right circumstances it could fire up the players, causing them to play better. It could create a more fun/memorable game experience, and if so, it might bring more fans to the game, and develop longer term affinity between the fans and the program. That, in turn, might bring more money to the athletic program in the long term.
Basically anything that makes the game day experience more fun is good for the long term health of the program., and especially good if the cost is little or nothing. Don't think of this as seen by your eyes. Think of it from the eyes of, say, a twelve year old, where dad is taking him to the game, and he gets to see the real players before the game. Will it make him want to keep coming back, as he grows up?
