After assuring players and recruits that he was in for the long haul,
Bill O'Brien interviewed for the Browns' coaching job last week. This didn't sit well with some players. He has since withdrawn from a job search this year, but has given no guarantees about next year. There are a bunch of players who stayed and recruits who have committed to the awful situation at Penn St based on O'Brien's representations that he would be there. I realize that the situation may be worse than he anticipated when signing on, but it was nonetheless really lousy of him to go job hunting less than a year after coming onboard. It'll be interesting to see how many players and recruits jump ship because of this.
