The better offer would have to be better in dollars and viewers.

As usual, I agree with Robert Fox:  tv is good for recruiting.

Then, to continue, recruiting well aids winning.  Winning then makes for tv attractiveness.  Winning also makes for solid attendance WHENEVER THE GAMES ARE HELD (a main point in this thread) ...which makes for better tv, better recruits, more winning, etc, etc, etc.

The one last piece that we need to keep it building and that we gots to grab this coming season:  MAC CHAMPIONSHIP.

I hope the rest of you are as geeked up as the best of us are for a good run at that MACC this year.

We ain't never gonna get a better tv deal until the MAC Conference can go better than .500 against itself.

If the Big East accepts the ESPN TV offer.... MAC games might be exclusively on ESPN3

Sounds like it's a done deal. $130 million over 7 years, or about $1.8 million per school per year.

But ouch:
"In 2011, ESPN offered a new nine-year deal to the Big East worth $1.17 billion or an average of $130 million annually. However, the Big East's presidents voted to turn down the deal that would have earned football members nearly $14 million a year. "

I don't think this will be a major impact on the MAC broadcast, since ESPN already had the Big East rights.

I think because Ohio is often the visiting team for MACtion games as well  it feels like the weeknight games are a bigger burden on our fanbase then they actually are. Here's a list of our HOME weeknight games for the last few years-

2012- Thurs 11/1 v EMU and Wed 11/7 v BGSU.

2011- Wed 11/2 v Temple  and Tues 11/22 v Miami

2010- Thurs 11/4 v Buffalo

2009- Fri 11/27 v Temple

2008- Tues 10/29 v Buffalo

2007- Fri 11/2 Temple

2006- Thurs 11/16 Akron

A total of 9 home games in the last 7 year have been played on a weeknight. Is this really that big of a sacrifice? I think the exposure has been well worth it.

Side note- CUSA's TV contract is 9x ours, but their punishment though is they get paid to not be seen since no one ever watches whatever channel they are on. That rev gap is too large, I hope we can leverage that for more $$$ from ESPN. We're worth more than what they are paying us, for sure.

One of the facts appears to be wrong.  I believe the 2009 Temple game was the early morning variety the day after Thanksgiving.  Great game with the week prior being a big victory against NIU.  Remember having to cut Thanksgiving day short to drive to Athens for the kids 110 practice then hit the sack and get up early for the AM kickoff.  Best consecutive games that I have witnessed of the Bobcats--both great wins of meaningful games.
