What do you think the new field turf design will be?  Same as the last?  Arched OHIO with the attack cat in the middle like the Convo?  Just OHIO?  Endzones?

I hope it's similar to the basketball one. Just having the cat's head in the middle has always looked silly to me. We are OHIO - let's shout if from the rooftops!

Good point.  Does a better job spreading our name to the causal channel flipper.  If they saw the cat head at midfield that may not mean anything to someone who is not a big fan, but the word "Ohio" would give them a clear ID as to where the game is being played.

Definitely think we should have the full Attack Cat logo at the 50. Kinda hoping for white or green endzones with green or white "OHIO" and "BOBCATS"

Nothing too wild, but definitely a little more color than what we've had.

As an engineer who designs synthetic turf fields,I'm also  interested in the 'type" of turf they go with.

I presume they'll stay with Field Turf. They have,at least in my opinion, the best product on the market today.

What  I wonder is if O.U. will use their new "Cool Play'  turf system.
It uses a different kind of infill to reduce the field temperature from other systems, including their own.

I know Athens isn't Florida, but it still gets pretty warm in the late spring through early fall.

I think we should go the Boise State route and get turf that is the same color as our school colors.

Same here-we need to be less mundane!

Of course a white field with green numbers/lines might catch a few eyes too!  Peden could be dubbed the frozen tunda of Hocking Hills or numerous other monikers!

NCAA put the kaibosh on any more school color fields after the monstrosity that is Eastern Washington's field.

Not sure where that leaves us.

I think a nice brick pattern would work fine. Blend in with the rest of campus.

I love this idea -- for the end zones only. If we wanted to be edgy, we could paint it like it is a graffiti wall.

It would definitely make us more unique.  I have always liked the endzones that use something different.

Tennessee's checkerboard is probably my favorite.  They may not have invented it but I think there's is best known.

What are some others that everyone is familiar with?

Oh man.  That would be a funny phone call to the NCAA.  What do we do now.....?

Something like this would be cool. The endzones are almost too simple in Peden. When OSU switched over to turf and made the endzones scarlet/red/whatever, I immediately thought, "What an improvement."

I guess we could use a lighter shade of green for the main playing field, allowing us to use the darker/hunter green for the endzones.

Expect a regular grass colored field with dark green end zones with white OHIO in them and a larger Attack Cat at midfield. You may even see dark green highlights in the team areas and possibly a thin dark green strip outside the field boundary lines. It will be infill and there is an option for an alternative to rubber but it is considerably more cost than the normal rubber infill. Project is proposed to start right after the spring game.

That will look very sharp. The boring endzones are one of the deficiencies of Peden Stadium. As dark as what the green will probably be in contrast with the white it almost be white on black contrast. The boundary stripe would be very unique and again make the playing surface look more intense. I wonder what kind of font will be used in the endzones? The arched font of the logo or font that resembles the school logo?

The OHIO logos in the end zones will most likely remain as they are now but they definately will stand out more on the dark green background. They are considering adjusting the font on the yard line numbers to a thinner or sleeker style. Selling squares of the old turf is being discussed and could happen.

I hope they do the 2 tone numbers.  White trimmed in black.  That adds a bit more umph to the look.

Do we know yet who is installing the field.

The OHIO in the endzones could be larger for being a 4 letter word; they are too small as they are now and a weird font makes it look disproportional.  I dig the dark hunter green for the trim and enzones though!
