Got to thinking about Ohio's "Battle for the Bell" and "Battle of the Bricks" over the weekend, and wondered if there might be interest in doing a "Battle of Ohio" or "Ohio Championship" or similar that would crown the Ohio MAC team with the best head-to-head record. The trophy might be a large, slightly modified, state of Ohio flag that could be flown from the winning team's stadium for the year.

That might bring some attention from non MAC teams (Ohio State, Cincinnati) that would quibble with being left out of the contest. But I think that would serve the MAC's interest in gaining statewide attention. And if those teams push hard enough, the MAC's response is "we'll play you any time you're ready."

They could just name it the "MAC East Championship".

Somehow I don't think O$U or Cincy would give a rat's arse about it.

The problem is that in-state teams play an uneven number of games amongst themselves, even within the MAC.  Last year, Kent was 4-0, Toledo 3-0, O$U 1-0, BGSUcks 3-2, Cincy 1-1 (L to Toledo), Fiami 2-4 (they played O$U and Cincy), Ohio 1-3, Akron 0-5.
