Got to thinking about how realignment might affect the bowl situation for some of the conferences undergoing realignment, and in turn those conferences not shifting teams.  I put together the following chart.  The teams in italics are bowl eligible teams from last season that have changed conferences this year.  I put asterisks next to UNC and MiamiF because their status is in question.  I think UNC will likely be cleared for post-season; not sure about MiamiF.  I also don't know whether the Big Leftover will still have six tie-ins or if some of their contracts might be voided by the team shifting.  Interestingly, ND doesn't have a tie-in yet this season because of their affiliation switch to the ACC.  The ACC and the MWC picked up bowl eligible teams while the Big Leftover and CUSA didn't improve.  Of course, the WAC took the ultimate hit.

I  was thinking the same thing yesterday.   C-USA and Big E should be downgraded on the number of bowl games.   I would love to see the MAC get at least one more.  WAC should get another as well.  Sunbelt??? given the most recent changes makes me wonder if 2 might be the right number for now.

I probably should footnote the chart because the WAC is gone for next year.  Its only opening was the Tater Bowl.

According to the chart there are 23 bowl bids for the 5 non AQ conferences. If evenly distributed, three conferences would get 5 bids and and two conferences would get 4 bids.

I think the argument could be made that the MAC is one of the top 3 along with MWC and the Big Least.
