The only question I would have is if it's legal. I think there are pretty specific rules for how you can sell or auction municipally-owned property. I don't see how you could give people preference. For example, I think the university has a process in place to sell/auction university-owned equipment.

If anyone should have first shot to buy these items, it should be the ones who actually wore them.

What if you ran an actual auction with the items? You could do one of those blind auctions, where people wrote on a piece of paper what they were willing to pay, or you could even run an auction for like a month on a selection of items online for people who are huge OHIO supporters, but who live far enough away that they don't often make it into town for the spring game.

Just some ideas to chew on, I haven't thought through all of the potential drawbacks. Maybe you don't do it with the entire inventory, and you keep yesterday's event but at a smaller scale?

Just throwing out ideas Cleveland. The possibility of being trampled in that place yesterday turned me off a bit.

I think it's a great idea VC.  It's a no cost perk of financially supporting OU athletics.  If you wanted to take it to extremes, you could have people get in line based on giving level.  Seriously though, as SBH has so often said, put your money where your mouth is when it comes to supporting OU athletics.

There would then be no point in going for others as they would not have a chance to get any of the "good stuff". I would also point out that students pay just as much if not more. They deserve an equal shot as the OBC if that were the case.

There is a better way to handle this event. I think pushing the surrounding railing back so people can have more space would be great. This was definitely more crowded than previous years and this year had less stuff.

If they can't find a suitable spot in Peden, why not have the sale in the Baker Ballroom? There's a lot more space there than anywhere in Peden. You could have stuff displayed on tables instead of in boxes.

I want to say THANKS A LOT to the guy from Chick Filet (you know who you are)  who grabbed 2 full large boxes of fleeces jackets and bought them all leaving none for the guy right behind him.....

I guess if I look on E-bay shortly I'll be able to purchase one of those $10 fleece jackets for $35.....

Rowdy--I hope you know "who he is," because I don't think he knows who he is.  I personally carried out one large box of stuff that included:
*1 Men's Track SInglet
*a tshirt for my father and myself
*2 black long sleeve football undershirts
*2 pairs of green shorts
*2 baseball team tabagons
*a long sleeve tshirt for my wife

Total price = $51.00
My wife grabbed two fleece MAC logo'd jackets/a couple baseball jersey's for a friends and his two children since they didn't arrive until later and had requested them, unfortunately they didn't fit and were put back for others.

While I did hear of people at the front of the line carrying out full boxes, you may wish to get your sources correct as this guy didn't get a single one and doesn't even have an Ebay account.  Then again, maybe you should've been focusing on what you wanted vs. trying to see what others were buying?

I agree......there is room (even in an old stadium) to move the railings and tables to make more space.  I didn't have room to even check the sizes of the stuff I was getting....lucked out on everything but once you passed a certain area you were at the point of no return.

There seemed to be different stuff (no fleece lined jackets) but the quantity would have been sufficient if you had room to know what you were getting and the space to return if you wanted another one.

Not the individual location, but take a look at the donation history of the CEO of Chick-Fila.....not sure I would want to publically say I stand for the same stuff as a bigot like him....

What has he donated to that makes him a bigot? Perhaps I have been under a rock.

We should definitely let this one die and just talk about the spring sale...

This is a longshot, but:

Did anyone attend the spring sale and buy an Ohio-logoed football they are willing to sell? I heard there were multiple footballs to buy at the sale, so I'm assuming someone out there may have more than he wants.

If so, please contact me. I'll buy one from you.

I got a brand new one in the bag for $5.00, no way I am parting with that! Found it in the bottom of a box of a bunch of shirts.
