Maybe I didn't explain it correctly. In 2006, Ohio ended up 7-1 during the regular season and so did Central Michigan. They had the best record in the conference for the regular season. In 2022, the Bobcats were 7-1 and no other conference team was better than 5-3. Yes, they won their division, but they also had the best overall record in the conference during the regular season. Period! In baseball, basketball and softball they hang banners for what the football team accomplished during those regular seasons. There have been instances where basketball or softball does not win the tournament, but yet they hang a banner for having the best record in the regular season.

Basketball, baseball and softball hang banners for regular season accomplishments, like I mentioned above.
Those were division champs not conference in 2006 and 2022. The conference champ won the conference championship game. Big difference.

The divisions will be gone next year, apparently. I'm not clear what the new system will be, nor how it will work. I know there will be pods, but idk how they will determine a champion at the end.

My biggest concern continues to be the facilities. To be candid, I would love to be the guy who figures out how to satisfy the county fair board, get them new turf right outside of Athens (and rebuild the facilities on the grounds), or at minimum figure out how to cut a deal to build a new arena that acts as a concert venue as well.....
