I love to read the intra-game posts, such as today.
Well they’re just based on what’s going on on the field, that was a pitiful first half. What could you say otherwise? The guys turned it around and played a really efficient second half. That’s what we’d like to see all the time, especially against a team like Akron.

No, I watched the game to laugh at posts by you and others. But what be more humorous would be to see you trying to coach a group of 6th graders and seeing the chaos that would exist. Kinda surprised you don't delete some of your posts TBH.

My frustration is we dumbed down the schedule this year and still lost a couple stupid ones playing a style that is best described as fingernails on a chalkboard. Steven Gottfried called our win over Iowa State unwatchable. That’s a rando flipping over to our showcase win. We all had to watch that sludge through a sewer pipe style for 11 games. What’s going to happen when we actually play a Power 5 school that isn’t running an offense from 1997, like Iowa State and San Diego State?

This was the set-up year. The training wheels were on. It will never be this easy again.

If 2025 somehow comes to fruition without a buyout, Ohio State, West Virginia and Rutgers will be that Louisville game all over again. Just fold up the tents, run the playclock down to a quarter of a second, and punt 10 times and take the check. Is that fun? Is that entertaining to everybody? Add one stupid loss to an NIU or Central and a loss to Toledo or Miami and we’re 7-5 every single year. Maybe that’s what we are. Okay. Let’s at least be entertaining if we’re going to lose five games.

Ohio has a quarterback with skills it may never have again, and it decided to milk the playclock against two-win teams. The vision is so small, so narrow. It’s not the 8-3 season, it’s that it never had the aspirations or daring that would allow for an 11-win season.

Hope I’m wrong.

My guess is that you are. With what L.C. has posted about the incoming class and what the rating services are saying about it, I think our best days are ahead of us in terms of where this program is headed.

I disagree totally that the Iowa State game was unwatchable. Defensive football is very interesting and entertaining. That first half 0-0 tie was the best defensive performance by both teams that I’ve witnessed at Peden since a 12-6 victory over Miami in the Bill Hess days that was all FGs — no TDs. Running the air-raid offense is not the only way to win football games.

You hit the nail on the head. I never felt during the Solich years that the team blew an opportunity to make a statement. There were some frustrating losses, but I don't think that the overall game plan ever held them back during an entire season. This team was an offensive beast last year with the same QB, similar receivers and line, and walk-ons filling the running back position. Unless there is a hidden problem with Rourke, I don't see why they needed to run the clock on every play to slow the game down. The strategy seemed to hurt the Bobcats more than the opponents and won't excite recruits watching games.

Unfortunately for you and Albin, he's coaching adults. Not 6th graders. Though since its clear you don't watch games, you probably wouldn't know that.

I'm glad you find humor in the teams regression. Honestly, I do. Intelligence can be a burden. For others who watch and are baffled by a coach who says less possessions is his key to victory and goes into half-time trailing a team with 7 wins in 5 years... it's not funny in the least.

Last time I checked, that half-time score only means something if you are betting cash. Has nothing to do with the final score, it's just a weigh point on the final journey.

"Dumbed down the schedule." Played and defeated a power five Iowa State team that finished tied for 4th in the Big 12 with seven wins. Played an American Athletic Conference team on the road and beat them and lost to a MWC team on the road that was not good this season. This team just won nine games and you are complaining. Have you looked at the mens basketball schedule this season? Not one power five school on the slate. They scheduled two total non conference road games and one is at Austin Peay and the other is CSU. They also have two more Horizon conference schools on the schedule along with Defiance and Troy. They just completed three neutral site games in the Bahamas. So talking about dumbing down the schedule. The basketball team frequently plays more home games than away in the non conference portion of the schedule and is playing UC Clermont dumbing down the schedule? And looking ahead to the schedule you mentioned above in 2025, do you think the basketball team will ever play 75% of the non-league games vs power five teams.

How we feeling now about our 9 wins against the 129th ranked schedule now that Miami won?

This season should’ve been a cake walk.

We’ll always look to how big of a failure this season was - not that we won 9 games. What a tremendous let down.

The fact that Miami won today doesn't make me feel a bit different about the season. They handed us our most decisive loss of the season, in our house. Would we have beaten Toledo this year? Probably not. This year, we weren't among the two best teams in the conference. That's the cold truth.

Am I disappointed, @#$% yes I'm disappointed. Am I going to declare this season a utter failure, @#$% no. Does that make me less of a fan? Absolutely not.

You need to take your nine wins and be satisfied. It took Cleve Bryant five years to win 9 games. Why can't you be happy with the appearance in a shit bowl at 2:30 PM on December 22nd? Tom and Bubba never got you that far!

Mr. Positive who is a closet Buckeyes fan shows his ugly head again! Yes it was disappointing to not win all 12 games and win the conference playoff game. It didn't happen! Get over it. They won nine regular season games back to back years. They won 7 of 8 games in the MAC last year and had the best regular season record. However this is football where they don't invite the majority of the conference or sometimes all the league to participate in a conference tournament. Did you complain about Grobe's team or Lichty and Cleve's team? How about Burke and Knorr? You are constantly ripping the football schedule. Did you take a look at Ohio's basketball schedule? They have a bunch of powerhouses! Not! They constantly schedule way more home games than road games. The basketball team plays two, count them "two true road games" at power house schools like CSU and Austin Peay. And the offer still stands, stop complaining and start donating to the NIL collective to retain players and get better players.

One measure of disappointment is to compare preseason expectations to actual results. Here are the preseason expectations:
https://www.bobcatattack.com/messageboard/topic.asp?FromP...
El Gato: 12-0
Andrew Ruck: 10-2
OCF: 10-2
M.D.W.S.T.: 9-3
ou1982: 9-3
Oubobcat9092: 9-3
Victory: 9-3
Brian Hall: 8-4
L.C.: 8-4
Ryan Carey: 6-6

It seems that the most likely to be disappointed are El Gato, Andrew Ruck, and OCF. For some others, 9-3 was better than expected.

I'm a fatalist. I picked 8-4 with a soul-crushing loss to Akron to keep us out of the championship. It was more about keeping my own expectations from getting too high. The season is a bit disappointing considering the strength of our schedule.

The Strength of Schedule thing's a bit of a canard, no?

We play in a bad conference, and play mostly teams from our conference. Our SOS is low, but it's not an outlier relative to our conference, right? Basically the entire MAC's strength of schedule ranks below 100, and until they got the extra game against each other both Miami and Toledo were in the 120s, too.

We needed to beat Miami and we didn't. They had a bad SOS, too.

I guess it largely boils down to Miami.

However, the performance seemed flat in games like Buffalo, WMU and Akron. When I hear nine wins I also think that so many of the games were against teams that were not really competitive this year. The East is horrid other than Miami-Sorry BGSU. I'm guessing Miami doesn't win 10 in a typical year.

It feels much different than when the Cats got bumped out of the championship game by Miami in 2018.

Are you off your meds or something? I can't even imagine the thought process it takes to keep rambling about "offering" me to donate? And basketball? In the same nonsensical posts?

I do in-fact donate to the 1804 collective, and have for quite some time, though I've never felt it necessary to talk about... and still don't. Now before they take your internet privileges, next time you escape, run over to the Sook Center, you can go find my name on the donor wall..

And since you bring it up, I'm not at all happy with how far the most talented offensive roster OU has ever had regressed this season.

Do I need to start making my checks out to you? CrazyPerson C/O BobcatAttack

Does that mean I'm allowed to complain now? No else is allowed to complain unless you make your monthly donation to the old man yelling at clouds?
