Figured this might be something fun to discuss in the off-season. Out of all the great football players that have worn the green and white, who would you want playing on your starting 24?

For me...

QB- Austin Everson
HB- Chad Brinker
WR- Terrance McCrae
WR-Lavon Brazil
TE-Jordan Thompson
TE- Andrew Mooney
OL- Art Lewis
OL- Chuck Turner
OL- Andy Canter
OL- Darren Reese
OL- Chet Adams
DE- Jameson Hartke
DE- Kevin Carberry
DT- Landon Cohen
DT- Ernie Hodge
OLB- Lee Renfro
OLB- Vince Costello
MLB- Matt Muncy
CB- Dion Byrum
CB- T.J. Wright
S- Michael Mitchell
S- Chip Cox
P- Dave Zastudil
K- Matt Weller

Though they called it split end and not wide receiver at the time, Todd Snyder has to be next to Brazill in that category, IMHO.

At QB I'd have either Tettleton or Cleve Bryant.....Frank Peters at offensive tackle.....and Muncy and Keller as a tie at MLB.

Doc, at this stage I'd give edge to Old Freak Nasty at QB, but a sterling senior season could place TT at the top of my all-time list.

Edit: That means no "brain farts" like the one in Oxford last season.

Mark Parson or Tevell Jones would be my corners.
Brinker was a nice back but no Hookfin. Kareem Wilson has to make the list as an athlete. Dude was ridiculous.

Dion Byrum absolutely has to be one of the corners. I was genuinely shocked he was not drafted.

I wouldn't put Beau and Kalvin on the same team. They're the exact same player.

Everson? Do you not like scoring points?

Kareem Wilson was an athlete I agree.  Maybe we could use him as an RB, since we have other QBs on the all-Ohio all-time roster who can actually throw the ball.  I remember one national record KW set during his tenure at Ohio.  I believe it was his sophomore or junior year, when he lead the nation in fewest passes by a QB.  And, if you ever saw him pass, you'd know why Grobe didn't often give him the green light to pass.  He was a darn good runner, though, in the triple option offense.

I know Everson might not have the "talent" if you will, but from what I heard he was a tough as nails player and a great leader. So that's why I picked him over TT or Cleve. Plus he was my favorite bobcat while growing up.

Dontrell Jackson at QB at least merits an Honorable Mention.  Slinging Sammy Shon was pretty good too and IMHO had as much talent as Everson.

AE is in the conversation.  Dude was a leader.  He started the renaissance.

Look at the 2006 schedule.  We started out 2-3.

Then it happened.  Seven straight W's.  Fuse lit.

And it's still happening.

Yeah, and look at some of the final scores in 2006. I would argue that our defense with guys like Muncy, Wright, Mitchell, Russ, and Cohen won us those games while Everson simply didn't make dumb decisions to cost us games. In his two years as a starter, the only game that I would argue we won because of Everson was at Northern Illinois.

Loved watching Bob Houmard score a bunch of TDs during his career.  The guy was your road grader.  Went on to have a great career in the CFL.  Blocking for him were two of the best tackles in Ohio history, Frank Peters and Ken Carmen.  And, yes, Todd Snyder is a must.  Had a nice NFL career.

Yes, the D was very good.  But do not misunderestimate AE.

Todd started one year for Atlanta.  Then he was out for a year with an injury.   When he was healthy again someone else had taken his spot in the starting lineup.  After siting on the bench for a year he signed with the Chicago Fire of the WFL.  When the WFL folded he went into business in Chicago and his football career ended.  This is all from memory, but think it's essentially correct.

Dark horse candidate for WR: Scott Mayle. Dude could fly. It's hard to say just how good he was, since we only threw the ball 6 times a game.

Zastudil would be in a duel with the Green brothers for the punter spot!
