Just saw this on ESPN online dated May 21, but I don't see it discussed here on our message board.

Apparently, the Detroit Lions are creating a new bowl game at Ford Field for the Big 10. This game will eliminate the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl game after this season. The new game will not include the MAC, and the most likely source for the opponent will come from the ACC.

How about that.

Apparently the Fords don't like the Caesar's people, and there was some talk about moving Pizza to Comerica Park (see this thread).  Haven't heard anything definitive.

I have always expected the MAC to end up with a tie in to a bowl in Lucas Oil Stadium just because it makes sense.  Indianapolis would have to interested enough to pursue it though.

Brickyard Bowl?

Circle City Bowl?

Hoosier Bowl?

Checkered Flag Bowl? 

Indy would be a great place for a bowl and I think they would do really well.  A college bowl game is about the only major sporting event they have not hosted before (that I am aware of) and considering they have done the Final Four and a Super Bowl (not to mention Wrestlemania VIII!) I think they could handle it.  Lucas Oil is only a few blocks from the NCAA offices they could showcase the Hall of Champions etc. too.

Toyota's North American Headquarters is only 2 hours away from Indianapolis  and they have 2 assembly plants in Indiana and 1 in Kentucky along with their Corporate Headquarters.  They also have their entire design and division locatedin Ann Arbor and York township Michigan.   Maybe they would be interested in putting their name on a bowl in Indiana?

Indianapolis is a great town to visit. The city leaders years ago took care of developing the downtown area. So it would be an excellent location for a bowl game. The hotels, restaurants, shopping, and other entertainment venues are all within close walking distance of the dome. Would make a great weekend.

They've also been fortunate that one of their primary employers -- Eli Lilly -- is pretty much recession proof.  As I recall, they were instrumental in convincing the Colts to leave Baltimore, which really helped to spur the downtown development.
