Saw this on Twitter this morning from Brett McMurphy, of ESPN, and hadn't seen elsewhere on this board.

@McMurphyESPN If approved, "Rice Bowl" in Little Rock, Ark., will pit MAC vs. Sun Belt starting in 2014. Would be 36th bowl

No other details provided.

Here's an article I found from a quick Google search. It's on Little Rock lobbying to host a bowl game.

I was hoping for a Rice a roni bowl, but I think they may have already had one if those at one time.

Good for Sunbelt fans; not so good for MAC fans.  No matter who the MAC rep is, I can't see too many fans of that team heading to the Rice Bowl in Little Rock.  Maybe I'm wrong, but that is a long way away from the MAC and the destination doesn't scream "spend a ton of money to come here".

According to the tourism bureau, they have golf, breweries, distilleries and a submarine.  What else do you need?

You know, this would be a nice tie-in.

All of the Sports Talk Shows I've listened to this week have reacted positively to the Little Rock Bowl. However, I disagree with its prospects, at least as far as the MAC is concerned. New Orleans provides a fantastic destination for a bowl game, and its played on a Saturday, yet Ohio brought a miniscule number of fans to the game just a few years ago. With that in mind, I can't see the fans of any MAC team traveling in any significant numbers to Little Rock.

name this mythical location people hold in their minds that will bring MAC fans out in any significant numbers. It doesn't exist.

the MAC footprint is one of the smallest in the country, there are 6 MAC teams within 150 miles of Columbus, and yet travel to away games by MAC fans is virtually non existent.

Little Rock, New Orleans, Boise, Dubai, it's all the same.

Good Doc Saturday piece about the bowl situation, both for the big guys and the smaller ones.  It's a sorry state of affairs when FSU loses a ton of money on not just one, but two, post-season games (ACC championship; Orange Bowl) in their back yard (both are about an eight-hour drive).  They can afford it, though.
