Have any of you OU fans heard anything about the series with the Herd getting extended beyond 2015?

A friend of mine who knows one of our Asst. AD's said that they were working on a longterm extension with you guys. What this guy tells me is right about 75% of the time. Just wondering if you guys have heard anything.

May have been waiting until all the league movement settled down.

As long as the two programs remain competitive I can't see a reason not to continue it.

i hope it goes on forever. i grew up in ironton about 20 minutes from huntington and lived in huntington from 04-11 so i enjoy this rivalry a lot more than the one with miami.

the next step in the series is to find a way to get it televised. With the history, the proximity, the competitiveness this match up is one of the better annual non conference games in the country.

Even if its just televised locally on WSAZ, and I don't buy into the notion that less people will show up if its on TV.  I think the opposite would be true, if I saw any of the games from the last 3 years on TV and I lived in the region  I would want to go see the next one live. Great entertainment for the price.

Yeah I really hope a local station picks up the ESPN3 feed for this game.

Last year's game was particularly sweet since my Dad managed to get my family and I box seats. Needless to say we were the only ones cheering in that Marshall box when we picked them off to seal the game.

I love being a part of a rivalry where the other team acknowledges that a rivalry exists! Miami has done their best to try and pretend that all of our history doesn’t matter and that their only rival is Cincinnati, who, by the way, could care less!

I grew curious as to the last time Miami beat Cincinnati in football. It was 2005...that's 7 straight losses. The closest? 24-10 in 2006. Next closest? 37-13 in 2009. Not much of a rivalry, if you ask me....

We've been on that end of a few rivalries in football ourselves. Let's enjoy the competitive nature of the games now. Before the recent string of wins, Miami had beaten us quite a few times in a row.

I like our chances at home this year to make it three straight against the Herd, but it's not like we own them. However, the more we beat them, the more we can change attitudes in our own backyard about the quality of our program.

The ONLY solace I could muster after that loss in Oxford this year was that perhaps it strengthened a waning rivalry just a bit. I was looking for something to brighten that drive through the endlessly curving, prairie boringness surrounding Oxford.
