The all conference teams are out and it looks like we have 7.  Kent has 7, Northern 11 and Toledo has 10.  Should be a fun season.

In his top 40 list the only MAC school is NIU at 26, but he has Marshall at 38. Anyone else seeing Marshall being picked that high in pre season polls?

Terd has a high ceiling this year, if their defense gets it together. They have a new coordinator, and I think the conventional wisdom is their D will be much better.  I'd pick them to beat us if this year's game was in Huntington. In Athens, I think we still have the edge.

At the same time, Holliday has yet to prove he actually knows how to coach. I could see their season being like ours last year....lots of early season success that falls apart mid season due to injuries/tough breaks/etc.

man their schedule gets pretty easy later in the year, so I don't see them tanking like we did even with some injuries.

At this point last year, wouldn't you have considered losing four of five to Fiami, Large Flightless Bird, BUGS, BallSU, and Can't pretty unlikely?

Zero, none, not-at-all OHIO on the first team.

There must be retribution, proof of error by season's end.

MAC CHAMPIONSHIP

Carrie, Beau/Boykin, TT, Lechner, Cochran, Shaw, Crutcher, Foster, the Smiths just off the top of my head, all undervalued.

I figured the games against Bugs and Can't to be tough, not so much the rest.

Well congrats to Nick Harwell, who was Preseason All-MAC 2nd team, while playing at Kansas.  (Yes I know the Harwell situation came about late, but I still find it amusing that he's on here)

FWIW, Marshall has 16 players on Steele's CUSA pre-season all conference teams

It could be a good year for the Herd.  We shall see!

The schedule sounds like its going to be fairly strong for OHIO this year with Louisville, Marshall and Northern Illinois potentially in a MAC title game. I'm wondering if Ohio can play Louisville tough and they finish undefeated would that set the stage for Ohio to participate in a BCS bowl with an 12-1 record? Steele is projecting a down year for Boise State and they have to get past Fresno State twice; once in the regular season and the title game. Louisville going 12-0, Marshall 10-3, Northern Illinois 11-2  will reflect well on us.

MAC CHAMPIONSHIP

I agree Monroe. Anything less than a MAC Championship should be considered a disappointment with Tettleton and Blankenship both seniors. The defense is going to need people to step up but Solich always pulls it together when the season comes around. I wouldn't discount some of the recruiting done at the DE position the last couple of years to rebuild the front 4 respectably.

Easy there. Unless I've missed something Louisville hasn't won that game yet

Phil Steele has Louisville at #7. This is turning out to be one of the best schedules for a non-AQ school playing Louisville #7, Northern Illinois #26 (championship game), Marshall #38 plus BG, Kent and CMU which all made bowl games last year. Boise State has #22 Fresno State, #30 Washington, #34 BYU.  Ohio State has #20 Wisconsin, #24 Michigan, #34 Penn State in the regular season not too much different than what the Bobcats will face.

Yet as highly as those teams are being rated, Steele has us as the #123 toughest schedule in FBS. In other words, 4th easiest. I think we can slow down on the great schedule talk.
