Hello,

I am posting this message to all MAC boards in hopes of building some excitement for the upcoming football season and for tailgating especially.

We have a small but dedicated group of tailgaters here in Akron.  We would like to build our tailgating tradition into a bigger and better experience.  I am sure some of you can identify with this and feel the same way.

I would like to reach out to the other tailgating fan bases of the MAC and try and encourage interaction between us MAC tailgaters and encourage travel among our schools.  One of the best tailgates I can remember at Akron was in 2010 when the Zips hosted Syracuse.  I was fortunate to meet a guy who went by the screen name of TexanMark who was a great ambassador for Orange tailgating both at the Carrier Dome and on the road.  He was a real inspiration to me as a tailgate enthusiast and planted the seed in me to try and do more to help further my favorite activity.

We have many tailgate threads on ZipsNation.org and we have started an Akron Zips Tailgaters page on Facebook.  I would enjoy learning more about the tailgating traditions of other MAC schools and hopefully get to experience some of them first hand.

One thing we have been doing for a couple of years now is the Tailgate Beer Challenge where we sample and document many different beers through the season.  It has been a great deal of fun for us.  We would like to throw down the gauntlet to our MAC brethren to see which group of tailgaters consumes the greatest variety of beers this 2013 season.

I think that a lot of our tailgating cultures could use some improvement.  Just trying to stoke the fire a bit.
