You know, this sounds a lot like some of the things being said about Ohio at the start of Solich's second year.

Um, he lost me at $300 million for their football stadium.  It was $60 million.

With a Jim Grobe reference, too.  Bowden may not be as bad a guy as I've thought but if he brings Zippy anywhere near a MAC East crown anytime soon, he'll definitely go back on my %$#@ list.

Look on the bright side....even if he does someone will hire him away immediately following a strong season, putting 'kron back to square one (see State, Kent, circa 2012-the Hazell era).

Bowden will jump at the first D1 job he's offered.  Probably if he gets to 6-7 wins he might become marketable again.

Akron, Buffalo, EMU, and now UMass define this conference for the Kirk Herbstreits of the world. I am all for strengthening the MAC's weakest links.

What do three of those schools have in common?  they all pushed us to the wire last season.

I expect all three of those schools to make pretty big strides this year, given their situation. Bowden, second year. Umass, second year in IA. Buffalo has some talent and could make noise.

Agreed.  We need every team to be competitive.

With the right coach, Akron could dominate the MAC in football.

(Remember, you don't need fans to be dominate a sport in the MAC.)
